Progynova Side Effects

Hi everyone

I am 1 week into my third IVF round (second FET) and on 3 x Progynova a day, and I feel bloody awful! Really really nauseous, super bloated and exhausted. I don’t remember feeling this rubbish last time for the first FET (first round was a fresh transfer - it worked but I miscarried)
Has anyone else struggled with Progynova at all, or have different experiences with different rounds? I can cope with pain and bloating but the sickly feeling is hard work! I also suffer from health anxiety so hoping this is completely normal and I’m not dying.
Thank you in advance :)

Unfortunately it’s really, really normal to feel nauseous on Progynova. I feel really hungover when I’m on them. I used to take 2 of my 3tablets at night so that I was asleep for the worst of the side effects.

For my most recent FETs they switched me to estrogen patches which are much nicer with no side effects.

Oh yes this is completely normal! I feel like crap on the estradiol. I also get nausea and vomiting. My advice is to get some ginger root essential oil (I got this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006JK1KUY/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttfabc42MKZQWGRHVE22P7WDPP??encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and get a diffuser), ginger root oil is recommended for morning sickness. I usually feel better after a few days, I think the nausea is the body reacting to having very low estradiol to very high within a short period of time, it's one of the reasons people get morning sickness, your body should get used to the hormones over the next few days

Thank you so much @Porridgeislife and @Gardenlady543 - it’s weirdly comforting to know other people feel like shit too 😂 sorry!
I think it was more that this is my second time taking progynova and the first time I had very little side effects. I will 100% be getting some ginger essential oil, I’ve been drinking ginger tea and that’s been helping a bit. Thanks again x

@theivfnewgirl the nausea is always worse at night time for me so I leave the diffuser on for a couple of hours in my room before I go to bed. Just so you know ginger root does not smell like a ginger bread man! It has a much more earthy smell!

Cycles vary, I've been on FET meds 4 times, going into my 5th next month. Every cycle is different, on one cycle I was put on far far too much, my estradiol blood level went 10 times higher than it should have (higher than my clinic has ever seen it before ever) and I was having uncontrollable anxiety which is not something I've ever experienced before!

Ten times higher!! That’s insane. Jeeez the things we do eh. Best of luck for your 5th cycle.

Thanks for the tips. The nausea has been pretty much constant, eating helps - I’ve got so fat but I’m passed caring. I’m taking the medication 8.30am, 2.30pm and 8.30pm… I didn’t know it was an option to take later/together etc. I literally thought spacing it out exactly was compulsory!
