NHS 1st Appt - What to expect?

My partner should get his results this week, but my appt isn't until the end of November.

What happens at the first appt?
Is it just a chat? Should I expect any testing? Do they do it all at once or over multiple appts?

I'd appreciate any info from people who have been on this journey too 🥰

Hey @monkeybean10! In my first appointment they went over history quite quickly and decided next steps from there, took my height and weight and carried out a few STI tests to get them out of the way. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I've had bloods and STI checks already. Just wanting to go in with the right expectations with the appointment being so far away. So, basically it's just a chat... 🙄

@monkeybean10 my appointment is this Tuesday so I should be able to tell you more then 😊. From what I know, it is just a chat but the doctor uses this to set out your protocol so it's a good chat! That's what I'm hoping anyway!!

Oh wonderful, I'd appreciate any feedback or info! The waiting is killing me!! Good luck with yours! X

We were talked through the process, shown diagrams, signed some forms. I had an internal scan, was told everything looked fine. Nurse came in with protocol and showed us how to inject into a little rubber thing. Handed a prescription and a huge bag of needles/syringes and sent to pharmacy to pick up drugs. Started injections two weeks later in line with the protocol we were given. Also given an A4 paper file full of info that we drag to all our appointments x

P.s. we too had already done the STI / bloods / semen tests prior to first IVF appointment.
