IVF and BMI

Hi everyone

I am starting IVF this month (starting oral meds in 2 days time, transfer will be early November).

Where I live, we get NHS funding with BMI under 29.

My current BMI is 30, on the dot. Last time I was weighed at the Dr a couple of month ago it was 29 but I have put on about 6 lbs because of recent holidays and it has taken me just so slightly above!

I'm a little bit worried because they are basing the whole treatment on my BMI of 29. I am desperately trying to lose these few lbs but I'm so worried I will turn up at the clinic in a couple of weeks and they'll weigh me and tell me I am 0.5 over the BMI range so they won't do it.

Is this likely? Or once they've ordered meds will they just go ahead?

We you all weighed just before starting treatment? Do they care?

It's stressing me out so much. Any experiences?

My clinic weighed me once, when I had my baseline scan which was about a month before starting treatment. They never even mentioned bmi to me - mine was about 28.5 when I was weighed but I definitely put on weight as treatment progressed. Good luck.

I was weighed just before starting treatment... I had been told at my consents appointment that if my BMI was above the cut-off, they would need to postpone treatment but just for a month or two to get the BMI down, so I wouldn't have had to go to the bottom of the waiting list or anything.

There's variation between clinics though, so what happens at one clinic may not be the same as at another.
