Good results from supplements!

I just wanted to post in relation to supplements that both my partner and I have been taking for 3 months which seem to have had a great effect.
We are both 41 and are about to start our third fresh IVF hoping for baby number 3.
I have diminishing ovarian reserve and my partner has always had abnormal sperm results and diagnosed with teratozoospermia.
In May my blood work showed my FSH as 15.2 and our IVF clinic basically said that at that level, IVF was not viable (must be under 12).
So I researched non stop and spent a fortune on supplements for both of us.
My September blood results now show an FSH of 6 and an AMH of 5 and IVF is now back on the table!
My partners September sperm results are the best they have ever been, his count has DOUBLED and all other results, including morphology, exceed all the minimum levels as per the WHO guidance!
The supplements I take are DHEA, alpha lipoic, ubiquinol, proceive for women, melatonin, manganese, wheatgrass and omega 3.
The supplements my partner takes are alpha lipoic, ubiquinol, proceive for men, l-carnitine, NAC and omega 3.
Hope this may be of some help.
Lots of luck xx

@firefly37 thank you so much for sharing this information. Im very pleased to see they helped you. My DP has Severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia, so i will definitely be trying these. Could you share what mg you both took? TIA

I took all of these too except dhea. Please ladies get your testosterone and dheas tested and assessed professionally before taking dhea! I took it untested and it increased my progesterone and I couldn’t cycle until I was off it two months. It’s a hormone not a supplement and if you don’t need it it can do much worse damage. Good luck to you all

Hi, I'm taking ubiquinol and alpha lipoic acid but don't know much about the others. Have read about dhea but similar to what @dreamsupreme mentions I'm scared to take it without proper testing, and can't seem to find this. Can anyone share more about manganese and wheatgrass? I know my Amh (5) but I'm almost 43 so need to work on quality, but not my fsh, for some reason my clinic don't measure it!!

Hi all, I have monitored my testosterone which was low (less than 0.4)... I initially took 50mgs Dhea (research suggests some women take 75mg but I never took that much)... When I retested my testosterone it was 1.4 which is within normal ranges... At this point I reduced to 25mg a day which is the daily recommended allowance on the packaging.
All the other meds we both took as per the recommended daily allowance x

@Dreamsupreme
Hi. I know this is an older post, but I’d like to know how people 40 and over have had success with melatonin for egg quality. I had a bad round last cycle and I’m feeling anxious about things. I took dhea which did not agree with me and made things worse. I’m just worried if melatonin is used successfully during stims. I’ve read it can suppress ovulation so I’m worried whether it will affect follicle growth. Thanks

@2021ivfagain I'm currently undergoing IVF but i don't have the answer to your question, however i recommend you posting on this thread - IVF/FET Feb/March no 3 2022 and asking there. There are lots of helpful people/posts everyday on there 🙂

@2021ivfagain hi I can help. My clinic actually prescribed melatonin for me. There is research that it helped mice/rats reverse some of the egg quality issues. It also helped me sleep which was great because I had insomnia! I asked about it and the consultant agreed. I also took all the supplements in it starts with the egg as did my dh. Not dhea though. We just had our baby with my fertility readings at rock bottom, so something worked. Good luck

@Bluemoonpinksky
Hi. That’s great that it worked. I’m a bit scared as dhea messed up my last round. Did you take 3mg melatonin and did you start a month beforehand? Did you also take it during stims? Do you mind me asking how old you are as my consultant said to me that I need to prepare myself for it not working out? I’m sorry for all the questions. Thanks

Bluemoonpinksky · 26/02/2022 14:35

No worries , I took 3mg for 6 months including during stimms and even the early weeks of pregnancy where I weaned off it.
I’m 42 I had baby last year
