Morphology is 2% but do the other results balance it out? What next?

DH's sperm analysis results are as follows:

Morphology 2% (normal is over 4%)
Volume 3.7ml (normal is over 2ml)

A) Progressive motility 60% (normal is over 32%)
B) Non progressive motility 4%
Non motile 36%

Total count 61x10^6 (normal is over 15)
Total sperm 'N'/ejaculate 224 (I think it says normal is 39?) Not sure what this is

The motility result is concerning but how concerning is it in the light of the other results?

Also, is there any way to increase morphology please?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated, thank you.

Have a read up on "impryl" supplements. Have some good reviews on improving morphology. They're not cheap and would need to take them for at least 3 months.
Haven't used them ourselves (unfortunately DP has issue with having no sperm) but have seen them recommended when I was looking into problems with semen analysis.

My partner had shocking sprem results he took proxeed and his massively improved for our ivf round we still did icsi but ut worked. Second time xxx

Thanks both I will look into those supplements.

He couldn’t get a GP appointment for another two weeks so I am trying to Google morphology as much as possible! Especially in the light of the other results…

Try to make lifestyle changes until his gp appointment.

You know the classics, no smoking, alcohol, caffeine, sugars, etc. Also, like a pp said, prenatal vitamins will also help out. Good luck to you two!

@MostlyCloudy... My partner has always had poor sperm reports and was diagnosed with teratozoospermia (low morphology). We are both 41 and trying for baby number 3 so I spent a fortune on vitamins and supplements for us both. My partners sperm report came in yesterday and was great! Count had doubled and all results exceeded the average... The doctor even asked why we needed IVF with such good sperm! He takes Proceive for men, coq10, omega 3, NAC, l-carnitine and alpha lipoic and was taking these for 3 months before testing.

Impryl helped my husband’s morphology but he had been taking them for 3 months. He was 2.5% and then after the months of impryl (and other supplements including ubiquinol) it went up to 8%.

MostlyCloudy · 03/10/2021 17:15

Thank you for the recommendations. @thislittlebird did he make any lifestyle changes?

@MostlyCloudy tbh he didn’t have many to make. He’s not overweight (well, very slightly but nothing he couldn’t shift fairly fast), he doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t cycle, didn’t drink much. The only things he did was sometimes wear looser boxers because I bought them for him, and we now have more low alcohol drinks instead of regular strength. We aren’t big drinkers anyway, but thought it’s an easy swap to make so if we want a drink it’s fewer calories/units.

His motility went up too, but is still below what it should be. I suspect with him it’s an antioxidants issue because he had some tests for other things with a urologist, but can’t be sure.

@thislittlebird could you link to the Impryl please? Where can I buy it?

thislittlebird · 08/10/2021 12:33

Hi @greendress789 here’s the link www.fertilityfamily.co.uk/shop/

Thank you!

Hi @MostlyCloudy just wondering if you have since conceived? My husband has also received an SA result of 2% morphology
