Dual stimulants

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of dual stimulants?

I had my first cycle earlier in the year, 13 follicles, only 3 over 16mm, 2 eggs collected, 1 fertilised, 1 BFN. Had my review with the consultant who said I was a slow responder. So for my second cycle I’d be put on maximum amount of stimulants

Second cycle has just been cancelled as my repeat scan which was today showed 9 follicles, 1 measuring 18mm and all others under 10mm. I have been on 6 meriofert a day.

The nurse specialist has booked me in next week for another consultation with the consultant but mentioned dual stimulants. It’s not used often but for those who aren’t responding how they should. I have normal AMH and unexplained infertility.

If anyone can help/advise or point me in the right direction of any information that would be great.

I was on dual stimulants on my last cycle as I'm older and have lower AMH and AFC so only get a few eggs. In my case it was 450iu Menopur (max dose I think) plus 0.5 to 1ml daily Buserelin (usually used for down regulation but my Doctor used it as an extra boost for the Menopur on a short protocol) - I stimmed for longer that time too (15 days) as the follicles seemed to grow more slowly .

They said my egg quality was improved, although I also had a triple trigger this time which might have helped too (my first unsuccessful cycle was with just the 450 Menopur plus a double trigger). After 3 years with multiple failed IUI's and 2 failed double transfers from my previous cycle, I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant - I'm still struggling to believe it.

Oh wow that’s fantastic. Did you start treatment the typical way with somethin like norethisterone or did yhey do something else with you?

Yes - Noresthisterone for 10 days, waited for the withdrawal bleed to start and then started the Buserelin (adding in the Menopur 5 days later).
