Diet & IVF

Hi ladies,
Im just wondering what your diet is like before & during IVF? I was always under the impression I had to max on protein however my doctor told me today that this doesn't help egg quality instead it just reduces the OHSS risk.
My diet could be better, I drink 2litres of water per day, try & eat fruit & veg but I do eat lots of carbs, some processed stuff & sugar. I dont drink nor smoke. Im now worried my carbs & sugar are too high & protein not enough. Thoughts? I know some people say they were super good & their round didnt work then they ate badly & it did work but surely when they were eating well that would have contributed to the successful round as it takes 3 months to make any impact.

Thanks :)

You can take these things to extremes (and many of us do!) but it really depends on the general state of your diet. If it's generally good and you're a healthy weight but with a cake and biscuit here and there, I wouldn't worry too much because it's unlikely to make a difference. I would definitely reduce carbs and especially sugar if you're having a lot though. And turn 'try' to eat veg into ensuring you eat veg. It's just sensible to eat healthily without becoming stressed and obsessed with a very restrictive diet.

I'd agree with @Holskey - it's easy to get obsessed but there's no need to :)

I made sure I ate protein, veg and fruit at every meal, and reduced carbs and refined sugar. I still had some dark chocolate pretty often though, and still ate out quite a bit, although I avoided processed food and ready meals at home.

Good luck and try not to worry about getting it perfect xx
