Have I had a missed miscarriage?

Good morning everyone

My story: 37 years old, first pregnancy after IVF ICSI. I have been on rectal progesterone since 3/9 and embryo transfer done on 6/9, tested positive 16/9. Since I started progesterone I’ve had 3-5 bowel movements/diarrhoea a day, abdominal cramps and felt really bloated, stomach felt very tender and hard and hungry all the time. My stomach was so bloated and hard when I was at work that I felt I couldn’t wear my trousers.
My IVF clinic said these are normal side effects from progesterone. I’ve had no no vaginal bleeding or discharge/spotting anything. I did another pregnancy test yesterday which came back positive straight away.

Suddenly this Wednesday my stomach felt so soft, it’s not hard or tender or anything. I don’t feel hungry all the time as I did a few days ago. Still have a little bit cramps and still have quite regular bowel movements. No bleeding or pain or anything.

I’m worried because it’s my first pregnancy and suddenly my stomach feels soft, I don’t feel hungry all the time and I don’t have any typical pregnancy symptoms yet.

I’m very worried/anxious. Have I had a missed miscarriage?

Sounds like you could have had mild OHSS from the HCG. I've currently got it and the bloating has been ridiculous. It has no impact on the pregnancy, so I really wouldn't worry, if it is that.

A lot of women have no symptoms at all during early pregnancy so I don't think you should jump to any conclusions.

Everyone talks about the TWW with ivf but I actually think the wait from the BFP to the scan is 10 times worse as infertility really does make us think negatively.

When is your scan?

@K2012 it's quite early for you to be getting symptoms from HCG, I didn't get any symptoms until 8 weeks pregnant and prior to that didn't feel pregnant at all (apart from side effects from the progesterone pessaries, it was an IVF pregnancy). The only way to know if you've had an MMC is with a scan but I don't think you should worry, all sounds quite normal at the moment

It's never as straightforward as we'd like when we finally get our bfps, but nothing you've written suggests a missed miscarriage at all. Congratulations and best of luck!

The wait is horrible! Congratulations on your bfp and good luck on your scan!

I’m now 6 weeks and 2 days and still no pregnancy symptoms 🤷🏻‍♀️ No sickness, sore breasts etc. I haven’t had any bleeding/spotting just very little light yellow discharge. It has started to worry me as I still don’t have any symptoms at all ☹️

Some ladies have loads of symptoms, some have none so try not to panic. Do you have a viability scan booked with your clinic?

Ashleighz88 · 04/10/2021 14:54

@K2012 I'm 6 weeks and 6 days today, I've had no symptoms at all. I was so worried but I had a scan yesterday and everything was perfect.

No symptoms doesn't mean anything, everyone is different so try not to worry (even though I know it's impossible). Can't you book a scan for some reassurance? It's really helped me.

Hi @Betsyboo87 Thanks for your reply. Yes I have a scan booked in 8 days but still very nervous.
