Hiya

I just wanted to talk about natural and medical cycles I'm been told I can do a Natural cycle, but I'm worried that's it's not as controlled

I've done medicated cycle which ended in miscarriage but they have said natural cycle I can do!

I wanted to see if anyone has had a natural cycle abd they success rates please

Hi there, I think natural FETs are standard at my clinic as long as the patient has regular. I like you, felt very unsure about this as I basically didn’t trust that my body would be able to do everything that it was supposed to do on its own. I would have preferred if it was all controlled with medication.

Despite my scepticism I went ahead with my first natural FET, which was successful and our son was born over 2 years ago. We had one other frozen embryo and had this transferred last month (another natural cycle) and to our complete surprise and delight it has resulted in another pregnancy. Very early days but my personal experience of natural FETs has only been positive. It’s actually nice to not have to take additional meds!

@windy2909 how amazing what it yourself for fertility issues or partner? How did you do it did you have to track your cycle? X

@pattazivf - we were kind of unexplained, although they did discover a problem with my cervix when a first attempt at transfer failed and my husband’s sperm analysis whilst not great, indicated it would not be impossible to conceive naturally. It just never happened for us naturally.

For both FETs I phoned on day 1 of cycle and the clinic monitored my cycle by taking bloods and detecting my LH surge. They started this on day 10 and I had to go back every 2 days until they detected it (I went 3 times). They then gave me transfer date based on when I ovulated. After transfer they gave me a shot of ovitrelle (pregnancy hormones) but other than that no meds at all.

I honestly don’t think your clinic would recommend it unless they thought it could work for you. When are you likely to be having your next transfer?

@windy2909 my clinic don't track like yours we have to track ourselves with ovulation sticks and they go by that no scans or anything;

Last time we went to do a natural one, after my miscarriage I asked them to montiure they only did this by scans first time the lining wasn't ready second time although i detected the LH surge they said I didn't ovulate, this is w has t I'm arguing with them about as if I didn't tv ask if or those scans we would of just done it!

Can I ask which clinic you use? X

@pattazivf - I have heard of people having to track themselves using ovulation sticks - not too sure I’d feel confident doing that myself, so I understand your reservations. I was never scanned either. I think they check your hormone levels in your blood and if they are all normal they assume that lining will be ok?

It’s a really tough decision to make. If I were you I’d ask to speak again to someone in your clinic who can talk you through the process and explain why they think this is the right approach for you.
