Has anyone ever had an infection following a HSG

I think I do my symptoms are a foul smell, very sore lower back and stinging when peeing Just wondering if anyone experienced this. Will I just get an antibiotic

Pelvic infections can sometimes occur after a HSG. You need treatment, likely antibiotics.

@Msmith1234 I agree with the past poster, I had antibiotics at the time of my HSG due to the risk of infection.

You might have acute pelvic inflammatory disease, you need to be assessed by a medical professional ASAP.

Doctors have prescribed me with trimethoprim but it says don't take it trying to conceive or possible pregnancy
Should I still take them?

Trimethoprim is used for UTIs, have they dipsticked your urine and sent it off to the lab?

I hope they took a swab of the vaginal discharge given your symptoms and that you just had a HSG.

No they didn't. They didn't even see me. They just gave me an antibiotic over the phone by me telling my symptoms

Also it isn't safe in early pregnancy, is there any chance you could be pregnant? If so you need to go back to the doctor and discuss an alternative. And also make sure they know your recent history, because unless they are sure you have a urinary infection, they need to be considering the possibility of a gynae infection.

I think you need an out of hours gp appointment to get this sorted @Msmith1234

I am about to embark on my ivf/icsi journey and had a few questions. The reason why we are going via ivf is due to male factor infertility - oligoazoospermia. It has definitely improved but still considered to be low in numbers. My periods are regular and i possibly may have pcos but show no typical symptoms.

I was wondering is it necessary to have an hsg/hycosy if i am going to have ivf/icsi?
