Hello I had blood tests beginning of this year which showed I was very low on iron, b12 and folate. I was taking tablets for 7 months which didn’t increase my levels so I’ve been having blood transfusions recently.

The question I have is if my folate levels are very low but I still have a period regularly does that mean my fertility hasn’t been effected? Or can this stop my ovulating?
Thank you for any advice.

Having regular cycles is a good sign, but to confirm ovulation you'll need a day 21 progesterone blood test.

You can get some indication by tracking at home, take your temperature daily, use the LH sticks and look for a sight temperature rise after the expected time of ovulation. But the progesterone blood test would be the best thing to do.

You may want to consider some baseline investigations to look at other hormones on day 3 of your cycle too and to get an ultrasound as well.

It sounds like you've got a lot going on with your health right now, I hope your doctor can get your deficiencies sorted for you.
