Dr Brosens biopsy

Hi ladies,
I recently had my first biopsy with Dr Brosens of the Coventry clinic for NK cells. He was really nice & the biopsy was very smooth. I will have a repeat as Im doing 2 biopsies.
I forgot to ask him how I get the results, is it emailed to me as some complicated report that I need to interpret or do they organise a follow up phone call? Im hoping the latter. Anyone already get their results? Also, did you have a period straight after?
Im still confused also, is the biopsy similar to a scratch?
Thanks for any advice :)

Hi @GingerBrummie I has my first biopsy 2 weeks ago with Prof Brosens. My period came 2 days earlier than I expected and it was lighter than usual. He told me they email the result from the first biopsy when they have it, that it can take 4-6 weeks and may even take up to 8 weeks. I'm expecting them to send something like the image attached as that was in the information they emailed before the appointment.

They will set up a consultation and provide advice for a treatment plan once both results are back. I'm hoping to have my second biopsy in the mock cycle I'm doing right now to repeat the EMMA and ERA tests. So I'm not expecting to know the plan for a few months. However I will be keen to see the results from the first one.

What's you're history, it will be good to stay in touch on here while we're going through this process.

I have never had a positive pregnancy test, on all the objective tests my embryos look great. I was found to have significant microflora issues, but had an unsuccessful euploid transfer after it was treated. Prof Brosens said that I could be overselecting embryos, basically nothing is ever good enough for my body to implant and we'll know more when the results are back.

Hi @Gardenlady543 thanks for replying, thats really useful. Fortunately that graph is easy to interpret but it will definitely be good to have a follow up call with them even if no treatment is needed.
We’ve spoken on another thread before and I recall you having excellent embryos but a few complicated issues. I hope you get those issues sorted so your next transfer is successful.
Ive been trying for 3 years (just turned 39) & also never seen a bfp so I think thats sort of odd hence doing the biopsy. Ive had 2 NHS cycles but none took & only get average day 3 embroys, never any blasts. So now Im guessing my egg quality is poor, not a vast amount I can do about that except keep trying as I dont want DE yet.
Before I go private (Ive just started my last NHS cycle) then I wanted to do the biopsy before forking out lots of money on private NHS.
I’ll let you know when I get my results, hopefully it will be sooner than later.

@GingerBrummie that sounds sensible, have you had any imaging like a saline scan or hsg? If not you might want to consider that, also consider the ERA EMMA ALICE.

It is so frustrating to never get a BFP Sad

@Gardenlady543 thanks, Ive had a hycosy and standard NHS tests. Im considering the other tests too. Do you have a tentative date for your FET? Can I ask what clinic you are with & if you recommend them? Ideally I would want a clinic that understands all these extra tests.

@GingerBrummie I'm with Care, they don't tend to do the tests I've had. They had never done the EMMA ALICE before.

I'm hoping to do my FET in November, when are you looking at for your next transfer?

GingerBrummie · 05/09/2021 18:06

Thanks @Gardenlady543 and good luck for November.
Ive just started my last NHS round (long protocol), have to do egg collection again so I guess transfer will be 8th Oct. If it fails again I want to start private round asap so Im already doing some research into private clinics. NHS made me wait 3 months between each cycle which was torture.. No more waiting as Im 40 next summer & its my first child.
I would love ARGH but that are way out of my budget sadly. I did consider Create as Im an older lady! But have decided against them, I would like a clinic that do standard & mild IVF, they only do mild IVF. There are so many clinics, its hard to know. Sorry for the ramble.
