My fresh cycle got cancelled and now I am doing FET next cycle . I have no idea how FET works ? Do I take injections or not ?
My nurse told me to ring on day 1 of my new cycle and then on day 21 I start taking some hormone patches or tablets , For 3 weeks ! And then one week later is transfer ! Does that sound right ? So from start to finish (egg transfer ) it sounds like 7 weeks !? Thanks for anyone who can advice me Flowers

@ShareLove hiya, sorry I can’t answer your question, I have the same question.. it seems like an awful long time, my nurse said the same but I was so confused I didn’t question… it sounds like we are doing medical cycles but natural cycles would be quicker,, my guess is clinics don’t like the natural method as they like to control the timing…but that’s just a guess. Hopefully someone can help us 🙂

@Littleblue80 yes that’s what my nurse told me Smile day 21 of my new cycle I start taking something ( I can’t remember what) some tablets , and then take that for 3 weeks then go for a scan and if all good then transfer a week later Smile but I would love someone to give me better idea what medicine Id be taking and how it really is like Sad I had my fresh transfer cancelled today 10 minutes before my transfer so I am very upset Sad

I started taking 2mg oestrogen tablets three times a day and then having a scan on day 9 to check my lining and then if it’s over 10mm I will continue the oestrogen and take progesterone for another 5 days and then do the transfer. You carry on taking the oestrogen and progesterone after the transfer. Hope that helps x

@Everhopeful41 thank you Flowers did you start taking the tablets on day 21 as well ? And what does oestrogen exactly do , do you know ? And did you take it only for 2 weeks ? Not 3 ? Before embryo transfer ? Xx

Hi, I'm in the process of a FET cycle following a freeze all round in July. I rang on day 1 of my cycle, then started eastrogen tablets x3 a day, then scanned on day 10. This is to check the lining is thick enough (anything over 7mm at my clinic). Then from the day after the scan, x2 progestorone pessaries a day whilst continuing the eastrogen. On the 6th day of progestorone (CD16) that's when I will have the transfer then I will test 9 days later, if it's positive I'll continue with eastrogen and progesterone until 12 weeks x

It sounds like you're doing down regulation, so you switch off your ovaries, then take estrogen to build your lining. I'm doing a FET in October but just using estrogen from cd2, so no down regulating but it stops you ovulating naturally, then you add in progesterone and transfer 5 days later.

@VenusStarr hey ! Thanks for the reply ! Why do you think I have to do down regulation and some people don’t ? Could it be because I have ohss from egg collection and they want to wait as long as possible for my ohss to go down before they do FET ? That’s the only reason I can think of … thank you ! Flowers

Yes, you take down regulation injections, then after a scan to check your lining is thin, you start estrogen and then progesterone before your transfer.

Oh that's a useful thread, thank you ladies! Do you know if it is the same for everyone doing IVF? I have PCOS and irregular cycles anyways, so should I think that my clinic will put me in a 7 week cycle to FET?
