12 eggs collected and only 5 fertilised - panicking

Just that really - 2nd cycle of IVF with ISCI as DH had a vasectomy 10+ Years ago. I’m 35, no fertility issues my side, good egg reserve. First cycle 22 eggs, 11 fertilised and only 2 blasts, 2 x FETs both failed.
This time only 12 eggs and just had the call to say 5 fertilised so now panicking that none will make it to Monday for 5 day transfer. Feeling so sad about this. DH has kids from previous marriage but I have none.

Hey, so sorry to hear. I know how how feel. I had a similar experience last week. Im 29, first cycle and no known underlying fertility problems but have had both tubes out due to other issues. Had 41 follicles on the scan, 17 eggs collected and only 6 were mature and only 3 fertilised. Had to do freeze all cos of OHSS risk and they froze the three on day 1. Later this month they will unthaw them and whatever survives to day 5 they will transfer. Thye have no idea why none were mature (the theory is trigger immunity but they don't know). This was our only NHS cycle and they were saying how good it looked every day so it was a massive shock and we are devastated. Gotta hold out hope for these 3.

Thanks @Vparisi I hope your FET goes well too - that’s why I had my freeze all last time, as I developed OHSS and it was absolutely horrible, so definitely best avoided.

@Gensola Hopefully most of them make it. From what I hear the less eggs the better quality. I just got a call from the clinic this morning saying 12 eggs matured from my egg collection yesterday and that 7 have fertilized. I am 40. Trying to stay positive but very worried. And 14 eggs collected yesterday.

@Keyu it is so worrying isnt it, and nothing to do but worry! I can’t focus on anything. Need to get out and distract myself.

Hey. I had 7 collected 5 fertilized and in the end we got 1×day 3 and 1 day×5. Both are frozen and waiting transfer. As difficult as I know it may sound, don't lose hope! It takes one, the lucky one.

My first cycle last year was disaster. I had 8 retrieved, 6 fertilized and only one 4BB blast on day 5. We had to freeze it because husband had covid and we were quarantined. Then, next month we transferred it and it was a chemical pregnancy. We got the result on my husband's birthday just a few days before Christmas. I was in pieces. After a while something happened and I found myself changed. I was no longer afraid because I had realized I couldn't control anything. So all I have left is hope.

It really does only take one!

I have spoken to DH about donor sperm or donor embryos but he isn’t keen. Just have to hope we get a little fighter.

I had 5 collected and only 1 fertilised 😦 my daughter has just turned 2 x

I had disastrous ivf which was converted to iui last minute, they had no idea when I ovulated and all the eggs were gone ( I only had 4 as it was!) now pregnant 24 wks. It does only take one. The fighter gets through!

You only need one. Quality over quantity is the key, I just wish you all the best of luck and fingers crossed one of them will be THE one!
