Covid positive and cancelling treatment

Hi all, I'm due to start IVF with a baseline scan and covid swab on 13th September.

I have tested positive for covid on a lateral flow test this morning (faint line), and I've been for a PCR this afternoon. If i am positive I just wondered what will happen with our treatment.

My track and trace app is saying I'd need to isolate up until 7th September. I know people can show up positive for covid for weeks after so I'm worried about this.

Does anyone know what would happen if I show up positive on the clinics swab on the 13th? Would they dismiss this for me and let me have my treatment, because I am over the infectious phase?

Thanks in advance! X

It would depend if you still have symptoms at the end of the 10 days - everyone I know tested negative on lateral flows by the end of isolating but they had it fairly mild and were over the worst within a couple of a days

Are you double vaccinated?

BewilderedBee · 29/08/2021 00:21

@twinningatlife yes I'm double vaccinated. My biggest worry is my covid swab coming back positive with the hospital, as they would be doing PCR - both me and my husband are swabbed at our baseline on the 13th x

@BewilderedBee I've recently started my stims and was told I don't need to have a Covid swab due to me testing positive in July. I had to send them the positive result I received then they could document it on my file and said I won't need another because it could show false positive from my previous result. I just need to isolate prior to egg collection.

Hope this helps and good luck. Hope you're feeling as well as possible xxx

I had the exact same, I was supposed to start my hormones and have a baseline scan in July and I contracted covid 5 days before... my clinic were really lovely though, I was on the short protocal and they said dont worry and just wait for another period and it only delayed a month. Fingers crossed everything is the same for you but it went very quickly! I was upset at first, but so much better to have it before than half way through hormone stims or treatment in general! Your body will be extra protected too, I found a bright side and hope you can too:)

Hi both were these NHS clinics? My clinic have said today that they need a negative PCR regardless 😭 they suggested cancelling and re-swabbing me a month after my original positive PCR but have agreed now to swab be on the 13th. But if it's positive - we have to cancel x

@BewilderedBee Hiya, I qualified for NHS funding and was referred to a care clinic in Woking which accepts NHS patients...they've never asked me to do a test even after having Covid... I just had to wait for my next cycle and my treatment started... is your clinic just NHS?

BewilderedBee · 04/09/2021 12:09

@Keeptrying12 yes it's a nhs clinic and they're really strict on a PCR at baseline and before egg collection. They told me yesterday they will need a negative test for me to be able to continue with treatment
