Waiting times for consultation, Birmingham Womans

Hi.
So, I have had blood tests and an ultrasound, which my GP has sent off this week to Birmingham woman's hospital for my referral to start. I've already had to wait since end of June to get to this point.

My question is, how long did you have to wait before you had your first consultation?

Hi,

I first went to GP in May, had initial tests June/July then referral was sent to fertility clinic. Just had a letter saying my first appointment is in October. I'm in Southampton though so it may be quicker for you in Birmingham🤷‍♀️

Hi @Madmiss

We were referred in February 2020 and should have had our first appointment in April after that but it was delayed due to Covid. So I would expect the usual wait would be 3 or so months in normal time!

I had an appointment at our clinic the other day where a doctor said that nhs fertility clinics have been given a load of money to cut through their wait lists so hopefully it won’t be pushing things back to far by now!

This was pre covid but referral in the January time and by the time we got though the tests / scans / presentation thing you have to attend it was almost a year before we were in a position to start (I then ended up pregnant naturally)

We were referred to BWH in the January of 2019, first appointment was in the May (pre-covid). I was sent for a scan, hsg and hysteroscopy over the Summer. All were fine but I did have a natural miscarriage during that time, so did push things back. Referred for ivf after one year, then covid struck. Finally had our ivf cycle at Create in May 2021 (I don't believe the women's have the ivf contract any more). Hopefully you're not waiting too long x
