IVF away from home

Hey 👋 I am interested in hearing experience of those who have had ivf away from home - I live in Glasgow but options for clinics here are limited, my husband recently had a successful SSR at Manchester fertility and we were really happy with the service we received and now I am thinking about maybe progressing with the clinic in Manchester. I am trying to gauge how many visits to the clinic roughly I’d need.
Any information greatly appreciated

Hello, I didn’t do IVF away from home, but can share what my protocol was in terms of number of visits. I did mild IVF / short protocol (no down reg). I had scans on cycle days 6, 8 and 10, with egg collection on day 12 (could be a bit longer if you need to stim more). If you’re doing a fresh cycle, transfer would be 3 - 5 days later depending on what day embryo you transfer (day 5 is best).

You might want to look into booking a cheap hotel for a couple of weeks, rather than paying train fares back and forth, but obviously depends on your work situation too. A hotel would be handy at least from the day before EC leading up to ET as timing is crucial, so you don’t want any travel problems on the day of the procedures.

I haven't done IVF away from home but I'd second the opinion above if traveling from Manchester to Glasgow!
For the short protocol you'd probably have a scan every 2-4 days for 10-12 days with egg collection 2 days later and then if it's decided to have an embryo transfer 2-5 days after that. The timing for the egg collection is quite important. The exact regime would depend on your clinic though and your body's response to treatment.

If you did a long protocol you would need a few more scans in the 3 weeks prior to the above but those scans wouldn't be as frequent. X
