Natural IVF with FET

Would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone is going through something similar. We are now with Create having our 3 FET transferred from another London clinic.

We have 3 blastocyst embryos 2BB, 3BB, 3CC and going for a natural cycle, anyone else had this?

My AMH is 11.4. I am 42 years old, should I genetically test these embryos? Or even consider another egg collection?

We had a failed FET in June, I just don't know whether to test what we already have....

Hi @Drew1978 when did you have the eggs collected for these embryos? If it was fairly recently then I wouldn't bother testing them. I would consider double transfers. The chance of aneuploid embryos is high at your age, these will either not implant, result on miscarriage or result in a condition like Downs.

There is a risk of damaging the embryos and them not surviving the thaw, if you had a large amount of embryos then it would be good to test to reduce the time to success. But with smaller numbers I don't think it's worth it.

@gardenlady543 thanks for reaching out. My eggs were collected 2018 I then had a natural pregnancy so I did not use them. At Create they have advised against putting 2 in due to my age and that I suffered with GD in my pregnancy. Looking at the costs of transporting from one clinic to another is also costly so is it worth going through a collection again? Or is it time to give up at my age?

I had one transfer in June this year and it didn't work.

If you have embryos that were frozen when you were 39 then you are likely to have a lot more luck with them than ones from age 42. At 42 there is a massive drop off of Ivf working, however it's the age the embryos were frozen at that counts.

The chance of each working is likely around 1 in 3 so hopefully one will work for you.

If I were in your position I would consider some tests such as a HSG or saline scan and an EMMA ALICE (+ERA if you might consider medicated FET). If there are issues then hopefully they can be picked up and treated so they can be resolved before a transfer. My friend with DOR went through these tests before a transfer.

Thanks again - I have had both saline sonogram and HSG all clear. My AMH levels are 11.4 so I’m in good shape. I think I will take a chance on the 3 we have and see where we go.
