Egg freezing in Spain (my experience)

Hello,
I found such valuable advice here that I wanted to share my experience, hoping it will help others in the same situation.

I just booked an egg freezing cycle with Clinica Vistahermosa in Alicante (they are also known as Grupo UR). The overall cost is £2,000 and it includes initial video consultation, procedure, hospital stay, anaesthesia and storage for 2 years. It would include all the tests and scans too but I decided to do them in London.

This is the cheapest price I found comparing all the most famous clinics, including Instituto Bernabeu (to be fair IB is in the same price range, only a few hundreds £ difference). The clinic was also recommended to me by a Spanish friend, who knows many people that had babies with them.

Medication is £500 on top of that and I'm managing it through an online pharmacy recommended by the clinic that ships to the UK.

Thinking of going solo and have a baby on my own in a couple of years max (I'm 38), I also enquired about IVF with sperm donation, the quote they sent me was for £3,000 (excluding medication).

So far, they've been really nice. The doctor I spoke with doesn't speak English well so I had a translator during the call. They're very quick to reply via email and guaranteed that I'll always have a translator with me during the procedure and hospital stay.

I just did the pre-IVF blood tests through my GP but I was looking at private options and I found the best price at medichecks.com (London based). It was around £100 overall. I know most clinics charge up to £500 for the same tests, such a rip off! I thought I'd try asking my GP and they made a referral for me no problem.

I don't know yet how much the scans will be, I'll update this thread as I progress through my journey.

I did an initial fertility test with IVI in London. It was the cheapest option I found at around £300.

I hope this is helpful, it took me 2 years to gather the necessary information and courage to do it, especially as I'm single and this has an emotional charge for me. Feel free to ask any question :)
