IVF is such a lottery in terms of finding the right clinic so I thought I would save you tens of thousands of pounds by sharing our experience. Firstly, Zita West have a terrible reputation within the medical industry for false promises and unfounded truths! Which is our experience too.
However, it is our physical experience at the hands of Zita West that is an even greater reason. One of the main senior consultants within their team was so physically violent during my embryo transfer that he repeatedly pierced by uterus with the catheter carrying the embryo. Such was the level of pain the nurses had to hold my body down to control the violent shaking I experienced as a result of the pain. Needless to say, my embryo didn't stand a chance.
In the next clinic I went to a wonderful Surgeon did a small exploratory operation on my uterus, she came out of the theatre as asked me immediately "what on earth happened during your last transfer? I have just spent an hour removing extensive scar tissue!!" She was furious and could see exactly what had happened.
I raised this with Zita West herself and she denied this could ever have happened at her clinic. Sadly, the Dr in question is still very much part of their team. I can only relay my experience and the opinion of other Fertility Doctors who enlightened me as to their reputation but I wanted to warn other vulnerable couples out there, so you don't experience the horror, expense and waste of precious time we had to!
