Positive urine tests, negative blood test. What happened?

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?

I had an IUI with donor sperm a few weeks ago in Denmark. I felt pregnant quite quickly afterwards and had some symptoms. I did a urine test 2 weeks later and got a faint positive result. An early morning urine test the next day was also v faintly positive (different brands). I started to get excited but the same day I started having light bleeding and went to an early pregnancy unit to get it checked it out. They said it might have been implantation bleeding and didn’t seem concerned but did a blood test for HCG. This morning I woke up to my period and a call from the clinic saying my blood result was negative 😭. The nurse mentioned a few things but I wasn’t really listening as I was upset but she did say that she thought the urine tests had been false positives. I find that hard to accept.
Could. I have conceived soon after the IUI but then lost it? To me this would explain the positive urines getting fainter over time and the eventual negative blood test?
Not that it really matters as I’m 45 and that was my last treatment. I’m just trying to get my head round things.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks

@Heidi3333 I'm so so sorry 💗
I've never experienced it myself, but from what I've read previously, it sounds like you may have had what they call a chemical pregnancy?

I'm sorry ❤️ I did an ivf round in May and on my beta blood day I had a very faint positive at home but beta was 5, so classed as negative. On my official urine test 2 days later, a stronger positive and the clinic redid my bloods and they'd tripled to 14. My tests the next day were stronger still but then started fading and my final beta was under 5 the following week. So it does sound similar. My clinic called it a chemical pregnancy. Xx

Thank you ladies

Sorry to hear your sad story Venusstar. It's heartbreaking isn't it?
Have you tried again?
Unfortunately I'm single and skint so trying again isn't really an option for me. 😭

It really is @Heidi3333 sadly, it wasn't my first loss (first one with ivf). We do have 2 frosties, so I'm going to do some tests and then look to transfer later in the year.

I'm sorry trying again isn't an option for you xx
