3rd egg retrieval and 5 eggs

Hey everyone,

Just looking to see if anyone has any success stories with a similar situation?
I'm 33 y/o.

1st IVF cycle - short med protocol, 5 eggs retrieved, 3 mature, 2 fertilised with ICSI and 1 blastocyst transferred - BFN

2nd IVF cycle - short med protocol, 9 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 3 fertilised with ICSI, 1 morula transferred - BFN

3rd IVF cycle today - long med protocol, 5 eggs retrieved. Waiting on numbers.

I feel completely lost at the low numbers again for the 3rd round and totally expecting the worst, is there any hope, wondering whether to prepare for the worst again.

Anyone been in a similar situation? Wondering whether we need to just give up.

Hi, I'm sorry you're not feeling very hopeful. I know from experience it's really hard when you've racked up a few rounds.

Do you know your AMH level? And have you changed any drugs, approaches, diet / vitamins etc since your first round? If not, then there are things you can do with the aim of boosting egg quality and quantity, but many of these take a few months to have an impact. Also, what has your clinic said to you about how each round has gone?

Sadly, for many women IVF is a slog. If this third round doesn't work, it doesn't mean that future rounds won't be successful. But definitely worth looking at any changes you can make. For example, I added in growth hormone injections and calcium ionophore for fertilisation, which seemed to give me a better response in my second and third rounds. But it's really hard to determine the effect of any particular change.

My AMH is 22.4, which weirdly went up after the 2nd round. With the first and second round it was 14.2. After the 2nd round, I added ubinquinol, fish oil, vit D, C. Incuding folic acid already taking.

The embryologist seemed surprised out of the 16 follicles, there was 5 eggs. My husband also has high DNA fragmentation and I have suspected endometriosos.
