IUI success stories

Hi ladies

I've just had my first IUI cycle and I'm currently 2 DPIUI. I'm trying not to be hopeful as I know the success rates are low but at the same time struggling to not think about it - do any of you have any 1st time success stories? How was your experience with IUI?

When I went in for my procedure, the doctor said that my DHs sperm was excellent. The thing that worries me a little is that they triggered me with a dominant follicle of 24mm. When I asked my doctor if the follicle size was too big, they reassured me that this is normal and even anything up to 30mm is considered normal, but my Internet search is telling me otherwise x

Hi! I was extremely lucky to fall pregnant ok my first IUI (despite only being a 10-14% chance). I gave birth to my DS last November. Me and my husband still have moments where we look at each other and think we can't believe it worked! We are so lucky. Good luck for your cycle! I triggered with a 23mm follicle so I think you should be ok! I really hope this works for you lovely x

Hi Disney,

Thanks for sharing your experience. That's so cool it worked first time for you. If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason you did IUI? For us it's a combination of male and female factor. My DH has a low sperm count (but only slightly below limit) and I have PCOS.

I'm on DPIUI 14 today and I'm planning to test on Friday as per the guidance given by my clinic. I have no real symptoms whatsoever which is really strange apart from heavy tender breasts (which I always get before my period) and fatigue (which I always seem to be these days).

I'm trying not to look too much into it as I'm taking progesterone supplements and it says that progesterone mimics the symptoms of pregnancy anyway. I will keep you posted on how I get along!

Have a nice day!
Chocolate

Hi @Chocolate18 I hope you’re ok. This was a few years back but after 18 months of trying naturally I got pregnant on my first round of IUI. My son is now 3. We’re now on IVF round 5 aa having secondary infertility but IUI was the reason we have our precious boy! It can definitely work. Sending you hope xxx

@Chocolate18
Fingers crossed for you on test day. I'll be thinking of you! Ours were issues with me. I don't ovulate on my own. I had 6 months old clomid but it didn't work. Did you have medicated IUI? On the NHS? I had clomid, menopur and then ovitrelle (spellings?) and lots of follicle tracking x

@DisneyGirl2387 - thank you for thinking of me DisneyGirl, I finally tested this morning and it was BFN. I'm pretty gutted but at the same time I kind of thought it would be the case anyway as I didn't 'feel' pregnant at all. Mine was a medicated cycle with letrozole 2.5 mg, trigger shot on cd14 (gonasi), and supplemented with vaginal progesterone supplements (crinone 8%) during the tww. We are doing it privately as the NHS clinic closest to us has pretty scary reviews (not to mention a loooong waiting list) so decided to invest in a private clinic. Did you have any symptoms in your tww when you tested positive?

@KayReeves - thank you for sharing your story!! It didn't work out for me on the first round :( onto the next I guess! All the best with no. #2. Sending all the baby dust your way.

@Chocolate18
I'm sorry to read your post, big hugs. Infertility is so so hard and no one understands unless you've been there. It hurts so much. I hope you've got some nice things planned to make you smile today. Can you go straight into your next round?
For me I had no symptoms other than really bad tummy ache like my period was going to start any minute. When my period was late I started to feel odd/funny but still didn't test for ages as I didn't want to see a negative test xx
