Hi Ladies
Unfortunately, despite falling pregnant after our first round of IVF I miscarried at 10.5 weeks. We have decided to try again, and last night had the debrief call with the fertility clinic. I am 41 in July and have diminished ovarian reserve so we are keen to go again asap, which is looking like starting in Sept.
The clinic have suggested trying different drugs, which may give a bigger yield of eggs. They have said there is no hard evidence to back this up, and as with anything in IVF there are no guarantees it will work. Don't know until you try. However I'm worried about testing out something new when the other drugs worked for me the first time round, and it's a lot of money only for it not to work.
I don't know what to do. Last time I was on Buserelin for 36 days and Gonal F for 10 days. They were mixed already, so no fiddly mixing of solutions.
The 2 surgeons at the clinic have suggested Fostimon Meriofert for stimulation this time. When I google it, they seem to be an injection each and you have to mix both of them up. So 3 injections a day when you include the Buserelin.
I hate needles, the thought of another each day isn't great and mixing it up adds more stress. I had very little side effects with the Gonal F, and kind of know what to expect with that.
Has anybody swapped drugs during a different cycle and had to abandon it because the new drugs didn't work?
The clinic have said some people chose to stick with the drugs they had used before and some try something different. I'm leaning towards stick to what we know because it worked, is only 2 jabs a day pre-mixed, and I got pregnant. I only got 3 eggs last time and only 2 fertilised so a higher yield would be better, although with my age and DOR the clinic only expected me to get 1 or 2 eggs anyway so I can't see me getting a vast amount of eggs from different drugs.
Does anyone have any advice please? Thanks so much
