Weight loss/healthy eating for fertility treatments thread

Just wondered if anyone would be interested in joining me. I am currently undergoing IVF, ICSI specifically. I had lost a bit of weight prior to cycle 1 and met the BMI requirement (under 30). However during that cycle (which ended in a chemical) I put on a bit of weight so am trying to lose weight / eat better overall in preparation for cycle 2. I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread for those of us undergoing fertility treatment specifically, to support one another with both aspects.

Hello, not starting til October but please can I join?

theotherfossilsister · 21/06/2021 11:02

The chemical must have been gutting. I'm sorry.

Sorry to hear about the chemical pregnancy. That’s tough.

I have put on weight during my cycle so would like to lose some before the next. Happy to join the chat. What are your plans @itsmschanandlerbong ?

Hi, I am so sorry about your chemical pregnancy.

I am currently attempting to lose weight in order to have IVF later in the year. Was on 30.5 BMI last I weighed myself, currently on the WW diet and attempting the gym 2 to 3 times a week. Have lost some weight, but would love to join this thread to provide (and hopefully receive) encouragement. Smile

Hi everyone, thanks for joining the thread. The chemical has been devastating, I've been crying on and off all weekend, waiting for the clinic to phone me back this afternoon with HCG blood results but I know what they're going to say. It helps to focus on something going forward.

@Ofpalestsilver I'm just going to try and eat healthier in general and walk more. Before this cycle I had to lose a bit of weight and done well, doing 10k steps per day and eating well so I want to get back into that habit again. I'm also going to try the vitamins mentioned in It Starts With An Egg and thinking about trying acupuncture too. I want to try and throw everything I can at this cycle.

@theotherfossilsister of course! Welcome ☺️

@ToniLD88 that's good, you're so close to the BMI requirement!

What is everyone else doing?

@itsmschanandlerbong I had gotten myself into a really positive healthy pattern before my cycle started but then the cycle itself happened and also I ended up having one of the busiest periods in my work ever that started THE SAME WEEK as my cycle! So i am working 12 hour days and the last thing I feel like is cooking a healthy meal. I ate beans on toast and other quick nonsense just cos I could.

Today I went for a 5-mile walk which felt really great and Im going to o the same tomorrow as I'm on holidays this week and I really want to get back into a good zone.

I had been using Mindful Chef stuff to help keep me sensible. Smoothies for breakfast, one of their healthy ready meals for lunch (i normally hate ready meals but these are good) and then a recipe kit for dinner. That way I could track my calories correctly.

Day 1, so far so good. Have also done 7000 steps today, was hoping for 10,000 will try and pace the house to get my steps up! How is everyone else doing?

@Ofpalestsilver I was the same, the cycle just threw me off and I was eating easy foods which weren't necessarily healthy. Well done on the walk! And I've never heard of mindful chef, off to google.

Mindful Chef is quite expensive to be honest but it works well for us for now!

itsmschanandlerbong · 23/06/2021 19:32

@Ofpalestsilver I had a look, it looks good! I have just decided to bulk cook and freeze. I had lentil Dahl with whole meal rice tonight, it was lovely.

Day 2 of healthy eating and I have been starving all day! Trying to snack on healthy foods. The first few days of eating well again are always more difficult. On the plus side, I had done just under 10,000 steps by 10am this morning.
