Hi ladies,

I've recently moved to Harrogate and my GP referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic at Harrogate hospital. I was wondering if anybody had been there. If so, did they do the tests there or were you then referred to Leeds hospital?

Thank you x

Hi, @Ally622 and @gwen7896 I’ve just been referred to. Can you tell me the process? Has it taken you long to get tests etc thank you x

Hi - they were amazing! Got the appointment through within around 4 weeks and the tests soon after. Tests showed nothing concrete wrong - am delighted to now be 13 weeks pregnant and have had the best care from the team in harrogate with weekly scans to date, can’t fault them at all! Best for luck with your referral x

Thank you @Ally622 for your quick reply. I’ve read posts so many times on here but never messaged myself until last night. I’ve had three recurrent miscarriages this year. My last was two days ago . That’s really good news to hear that you got your appointment through really quickly. What tests did they do. Was it just lots of blood tests? Congratulations to you too and I wish you all the best. X

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that - I had 3 in 16 months, all very early. I had my little girl 3 years ago and totally wasn’t expecting any issues this time round! Yes I had lots of blood tests and an ultrasound scan to check my womb etc and all fine. They prescribed me progesterone from the next pregnancy which is doing the trick! Do you know which consultant you’ll be seeing yet? Honestly I can’t recommend them enough - it’s a horrible time when you go through a miscarriage so if you need to chat, by all means let me know. I’ve been there earlier in the year but honestly it gets better x

Thank you. That’s so positive here. I’m the same as you. I have a 3 and 4 year old and with no problems at all so it came as a huge shock when we decided to try for our third. I lost the first in feb at 7.5 weeks, 2nd end of May at 5 weeks and this one on Saturday at 10.1 weeks. The only difference this time I guess is that I’m 39 now so I wondered if age was a factor. I don’t want to wait too long to try again so I just really hope I can get the tests done as quickly as you did. I fell pregnant straight after the miscarriage last time. I just think it would be irresponsible to try straight away again after what’s happened, I need to have the tests just in case anything comes up. They said I’d be put on progesterone straight away next time which is positive. I’d be tempted to take baby aspirin if I could get it too as I’ve heard that can help. You’ll have to Keep in touch as id love to hear a happy ending from you. Hopefully I can message you in a few months with good news too x

I’m 39 too - 40 in October so I felt time was ticking! Although they reassured me that there was plenty of time. I’m on baby aspirin too from 12 weeks to delivery and on progesterone from conception to 16 weeks. The EPAU at Harrogate have been so good - they’ve offered scans weekly although I chose to only have them at 6,8 and 11 weeks then they said I was effectively on the “normal” path although I stay under the consultant from the recurrent miscarriage clinic throughout which is nice x

Hi, @Ally622 & @Racca13 I apostate you might not see this as it’s nearly a year later but I’ve just been referred to this clinic & wanted to see what the wait times were once the blood tests were done? Had my most recent miscarriage in May so got my first appointment in September.

Racca13 · 21/06/2024 09:26

Hi @ell55 I’m sorry to hear you’ve had miscarriages too. how are you coping? In my experience Harrogate were really good. I had my first appointment 12 or so weeks after the last mc. They did the blood tests there and then and made a follow up appointment 3 months after that. That’s the only contact I had except one further blood test in my follow up appointment just to recheck a level but everything was fine. It seems like such a long wait but it does pass. Xx

ell55 · 21/06/2024 09:30

@Racca13 Thanks for your response & hope everything is working out for you! It’s been pretty tough, had my first mc at 8 weeks in Oct last year, one at the start of this year and my third at 12 weeks in May. I think the hardest part is waiting until Sept and not being able to get pregnant at all. How long did it take for the tests to come back?
