Evening all,
We very recently been approved for IVF for the first time, I'm due on this week for injections to start. However I'm going away to Cornwall for 4 days next monday (booked before we new). Couple of questions
-What's best to case to take for a 5 hour drive (is a cooler okay) is it advisable?
-Should I just want till next month to start my cycle? Would would you do!

Part of me is in such a rush as I have it in my head to start ASAP? Or am I being silly to wait another month is nothing after so long?

Just some advise maybe even someone to tell me shut up I'm being silly!
Thanks for anyone who read this

Hi

I would go for it. Someone once on here told me not to put life on hold for IVF and i live by that now. Where I can

We pretty made our meds up the night before as I didn't fancy faffing around measuring etc so once we did that we had to go away one night so we just always pre made for a few days at a time so you could just do that? When I said that to my clinic they said oh what a good idea !

( then once premade you don't have to keep it cool )

Also throughout stims I felt fine it was after and trigger I felt unwell ( OHSS ) x

Failing that a cool box will be just fine I should imagine x

Do you know how often you will need to have scans/blood tests? Mine do every other day so would be impossible to do a four day break away.

As for a cool box it depends on your meds. some need refrigeration constantly, some need it but can be removed for up to 30 days and some don't at all.

I felt fine during stims etc though. Also it may be helpful to get a travel sharps bin. you can get them on amazon.

I travelled a lot with medication (my clinic is abroad and I travelled within the UK for work).
The ice packs that come with the medication delivery are amazing, they stay cool for ages. You can also use them if you have a picnic!
Remember to freeze the ice pack again for your return journey. When travelling I always brought a bit more medication than I needed in case I was delayed for some reason.

I wouldn't put IVF on hold unless as Bells says you need scans or blood tests, but even then there are possible workarounds.

I often just used the packaging as a mini sharps bin until I got home or you could use a tupperware box.

I would go! I think it's an amazing idea to create nice moments and memories for you two alongside IVF. Like a previous poster mentioned, continue your life. It's important to have something else to do and to look forward to other than IVF things. Have fun guys!
