Questions to ask at review for failed IVF

I have my follow up appointment after my 1st failed IVF tomorrow and I don't really know what to expect.

Is there anything in particular I should be asking?

I'm 39, AFC was 9, AMH low at 5.6
8 eggs collected, 7 fertilised
But NONE made it to blastocyst at day 5!
Short protocol
450 menopur
Stimmed for 13 days

Transfered 1 anyway then day 6 2 more made it to blast and 1 more was a early blast but they said not good enough grade to freeze.

We have another cycle as we went with access so just want to know what we could do differently and what I should be asking?

Hi @strawberrysummer19, sorry to hear about your unsuccessful attempt. It’s a hard time but I always felt better after my reviews as I felt a bit more like we had a plan for the next cycle. I’ve had two now and due to start my third soon.

My key questions are generally ‘what do you think went well this time, how would you rate my response, what didn’t go as expected and how could we change that, what would you change for another cycle, what medication would you consider during another round, are there any additional tests that may be beneficial at this stage, are there any other supplements you suggest I take, are there any additional lifestyle changes you’d recommend, even if there aren’t sperm issues is there any benefit in considering ICSI, is stronger drugs and more eggs the aim of the next cycle or is natural modified IVF something to consider at this point’. Likewise if you have any funding queries or want to talk about the cost benefit analysis of different options, that’s a good time to run through these.

I hope that helps a little. I found that I’d prepare my own list of questions but the clinic was generally good at pre-empting what I was going to ask so I only needed to ask a few supplementary ones.

@strawberrysummer19 I'd ask what they can do differently. I did 2 cycles of the same stims (450 menopur/short protocol) but in the end I had success with 150 bemfola on a natural modified protocol. Also was your luteal support good enough? I feel this is sometimes overlooked, certainly was on my first cycle so after that insisted on injectable progesterone as well as pessaries.
