IVF & miscarriages

Hello all. I had a miscarriage last year - fresh transfer of one grade a embryo- resulted in twins but had a early missed miscarriage. Recent FET (grade a embryo) BFP and clear blue 3+ So was hopeful before viability scan. Showed an empty sac essentially (think they call It blighted ovum). I’ve since miscarried naturally.

I’ve not had a follow up consultation yet to ask the questions. Just wondering if anyone else has had this? Did you have any tests done? If so, which ones?

Most recent FET I was on additional progesterone as well as low dose aspirin.

Thanks in advance x

I’ve had two miscarriages one after IVF at 13 weeks and one after my FET at 7 weeks. My CCG policy is that they will refer you for tests after 2 with IVF. I’ve had a hysteroscopy and full bloods (not sure what full bloods means). My tests showed nothing.

It might be worth seeing what your local policy is and then asking for a referral if possible. Good luck Flowers

Thank you @Mancbear88 for your reply and really sorry for your losses -heartbreaking. I’m not expecting my tests will come back abnormal either or will get answers. I will ask my GP if they will consider referring me. Did you have a long wait for your tests? I’m willing to wait a few months before next round to lose some weight and just mentally prepare myself for another round. What are your next steps if you don’t mind me asking? Xx

Well I was ‘lucky’ with my tests as my FET after my first IVF cycle was cancelled a week before transfer because of Covid so my IVF consultant said that we might as well do the testing then, so I actually had the tests after one loss. It’s NHS but the consultant also works as the recurrent miscarriage specialist.

It was a bit of a wait because of the first lockdown but I was waiting anyway because there was no treatment allowed.

They think my reason is thin lining so they’ve upped my oestrogen a lot to get my lining thicker and I’m currently due to transfer next Tuesday.

@Mancbear88 oh that is lucky that your NHS consultant specialises in that. I suppose there is no harm in me asking to be referred - I had a quick google and couldn’t find anything. There is no funding in my area for ivf though 😞 best of luck next week, fingers crossed the extra oestrogen has done the trick xx
