Any advice on not reaching blastocyst?!

I arrived at clinic for transfer to be told none of my 3 embies made it to blastocyst!

Apparently they were ok yesterday? (Day4)

But we had a choice to transfer or let grow for another 2 days so we chose to transfer one and see how the others got one

Day 6 call, 2 made it to blastocyst! With a 3rd being a early blastocyst so we were so happy! But then next day none were suit also for freezing! So now feeling confused.

So now I'm left wondering what chances
If any has the embaby onboard have ? They said it was a ' compacted ' embryo from memory

Can't speak to clinic until our review which we get if we test negative

Just wanted to air and vent as feel so sad like we have no hope for this one
They seemed very on the fence and couldn't really say if we had a good chance
But then surely would they have let us transfer if there wasn't any?

Feel like this is going to be a long wait!

Sorry I'm a bit confused - so did you do a transfer? On day 5 but it wasn't a blastocyst?

Then they let the others go to day 6 at which point they were blastocysts but by day 7 they weren't good enough quality to freeze?

So

1 - why didn't they freeze on day 6 if they were all blastocysts (even if one was an early one?)

2 - why let them go to day 7 when it's pretty accepted day 7s have a low success rate?

3 - just because they weren't suitable to freeze doesn't mean they won't make a healthy baby? Many clinics have quite a strict cut off of grading below which they won't freeze them because theh probably wouldnt survive the freeze and thaw process?

@ivfgottwins

So yes we transferred 1 on day 5 as that was an option still even though not blastocyst

They said they will leave the others for a further two days by which time the next day when they called I just remember feeling upbeat that 2 were blastocysts and 1 early !

But the next day none were suitable grading for freeze - they didn't tell me anymore than that
I was just in shock that we had none as I genuinely thought we would have had at least the 2 blastocysts !

I know probably questions for the clinic but after OTD I will definitely be asking

Just in a bit of shock disappointment and wanted to get some opinions

It sounds a little odd they didn't freeze the 2 that reached blastocyst on day 6? Might be worth giving them a call and ask them to go through it again with you, just for your understanding?

In terms of experience having a non-blast embryo transferred - this was us last year, day 5 embryo transferred which hadn't reached blast stage yet. Currently 31 weeks pregnant with said slow grower! So it can happen, but I recognise we were very lucky, as statistically it is less likely if they haven't reached blastocyst stage. Good luck 🤞
