CRGH experience

Hello lovely community! Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine at last :)

I'd like to hear about your experiences at CRGH.

We had two consultations with one of their Drs, first one great, second one sort of rushed, first nurse consultation today, I got told off for asking a simple question about an injection. Plus, they gave me norethisterone to time my period despite the fact that it's like super duper regular already - I'd rather like to be involved in the decision making process re the treatment but it does not seem to be the case so far. It's already a difficult process to go through, so I'd like to make sure I'll be well taken care of.

We had a negative result at another clinic before, so I'm perhaps even more apprehensive than I'd be otherwise.

Thank you, much appreciatedDaffodilSmile

Hi, I'm interested in answers to this too. We've had all the fertility tests at CRGH and now considering IUI but to be honest I've found them incredibly cold and unfriendly, making the whole process more stressful, so I don't really want to do it there. Think their USP is results (which is why my husband picked them... Classic man) but I just feel I need somewhere that values the emotional support side of it too!

I had treatment with UCLH which used CRGH for weekend scans, egg collection, the embryologist and egg transfer. I got pregnant on my first round so very happy with the results however I did wish the nurses were a little friendlier

Hi All,
I was considering to go with CRGH and after reading your comments Im confuse on what to do.
has it been better experience now? can I ask you who is your consultant?
Many thanks

Bellwells · 10/08/2021 16:47

@Nania60 did you go with CRGH in the end? If so what was/is the process like with them?

Nania60 · 10/08/2021 17:05

@Bellwells I did. All went ok but they suggested me to do 3 cycles and batching and Im not to keen on it tbh

Just seen someone posted on this thread and thought I would share my latest CRGH experience... Went for a HyCoSy, paid in advance, then received an invoice 2 weeks later for a vaginal swab apparently done on the same day (which they hadn't told me about)?! When I queried it they said sorry no you didn't have a swab, we'll reverse the invoice. It really doesn't inspire confidence.... However we have just got a BFP after 15 months trying (early days but yay!) So maybe there is some truth in the HyCoSy fertility bump 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve just been referred so I am just starting out with them.
I’m doing PGD through the NHS so I recon I have a little wait in front of me.

@Nania60 have you had a chance to talk to them about your concerns about it?

Hi @Loganberry14 thank you for sharing your experience. That is very cheeky that they tried to charge you for something you did not have, what a good thing you questioned it!

Nania60 · 10/08/2021 17:32

@Bellwells you have to paid again to have another consultation/follow up (private) or decline their proposal so, I didnt do either

With my NHS treatment for my first child I was with UCLH who work with CRGH and always found the doctors and nurses to be great.

Now I’m with CRGH hoping for a sibling and I’m using the same consultant I had at RMU and he is fantastic along with his nurse. Every nurse and the people on reception have always been friendly and helpful. I have had a great experience but perhaps it varies on which doctors /nurses you see.

Bellwells · 10/08/2021 19:19

@Nania60 oh that is so annoying, are you just going to go ahead with what they suggested then?

@mouse1234567 what stage are you currently at with CRGH and how long has it taken you to get from your referral to the stage you are at?

Hi, I do think CRGH's service has seriously deterioriated over the last 2 years - unfortunately HEFA results are lagging indicator.
I've had a number of incidents including (i) uncorrect number of drugs provided, (ii) incorrect needles provided, (iii) lack of information that I should adjust the number of drugs and (iv) their system not working / lack of call backs. Worse comes worse they did not want to respond to this factual negligence and are dragging their feet with sharing my data so I can switch providers. Truly outrageous / shocking - would not have expected this after I've paid >20,000 to them as private client. I also e-mailed their founder but have not received any response. Would definitely not recommend.

We had NHS ivf who used CRGH for parts of the process. We had our baby on the first round, second FET. We also have a load of embryos frozen. I didn't like the touch feely side of CRGH. Had a few less than ideal encounters. However, it didn't bother me that much and clearly we got the result that we wanted. I always recommend them when I'm asked. See a counsellor on the side if needs be.

TataMamma · 13/10/2021 09:50

I also started with the NHS/UCLH and was transferred there to have my eggs frozen back in 2013.
I then went back as a private patient in 2020 and 2021. Ultimately my FET worked first time twice, and I now have a DD and I'm 5 months pregnant with DD2.
Personally I found the Drs and nurses fine (and I ask lots of questions!), but their administration is awful and incredibly stressful. I do feel like I have to push and check for absolutely everything because otherwise mistakes happen all the time. They have never given me a correct prescription, and a few months ago, told me I would have to pay them around £6,000 in order to have the transfer the following day, even though the total cost of the treatment was half that and I'd paid almost all of it! They did apologise for that, but mostly their admin and finance is horrendous.
That said thought, I've had 2 rounds of IVF, and will shortly hopefully have 2 babies. I will probably be looking to have a DC3 and would go back there just because of that.
