Hey IVF ladies , you cannot contact lenses for egg collection ?

I am having ivf in few months and iv been reading on nhs website about the steps of IVF, it says no make up no perfume no contact lenses ? I wear contact lenses only and I don’t have glasses , what do I do about this situation

Order some cheap glasses.

If you had an eye infection or scratched cornea you couldn’t wear lenses so you really should have a pair of glasses for emergency.

Could you just take them out just before and put them in straight after? I fell asleep during mine and I don’t think there’s much to see anyway. As soon as i was wheeled into the theatre i closed my eyes to try to relax. I could wear mine (extended wear so ok to sleep in) but I’m not in the UK.

@Betsyboo87 that would be brilliant but I’m not sure if they let you do that ? I’m not even sure why I can’t wear contact lenses on that day . I don’t know the reason behind it . I could easily take them out and put them back in after if they allow me to do so but I will have to ask when I get to that stage

Your not supposed to sleep in contact lens so it's the same principle when it comes to having any kind of medical treatment under sedation or general anaesthetic that they want you to have removed them because they don't know how long you could be under and leaving them in could cause an unnecessary infection

I just had to take mine out and cope with the blur until it was over and I could put nee ones in

Agree that you should have back up glasses though - I caught conjunctivitis a couple of years ago and couldn't wear lenses for a week and it was hell!
