Sperm results - low morphology/motility

Hi all

We have been trying for 2 and half years for our second child....DH just got his sperm analysis results which say his progressive motility is 29% and morphology is 2%, count is fine....

I don’t know what to think. We conceived our DC first month, could it have been amazing luck we conceived DC so easily or has something happened to DH’s health to effect his sperm. That does worry me ..

Has anyone’s partner had similar results? Does IVF work or do you think we need ICSI? Going for our consultation tomorrow but would really appreciate any advice.

Thank you all

IUI could be another option. It worked for me. Is this the first time he's been tested? If so, they may suggest waiting a week or two and retesting to confirm.

Thanks Missconduct
No this is the second time and similar results
What were your DH’s results like please?
It would be good to know if IUI would work with similar sperm results....

My first child is now 21 years old, so I'm sorry, I don't recall his specific numbers. I do recall that he had good count but low mobility. The IUI was quick and easy.

Hey hun sorry you’re in this situation. My OH’s results were 0% morphology, normal count and motility on 2 tests. I put him on so many supplements which made minimal difference. He does however have a varicocele. We had ivf with icsi, iui wasn't an option as his sperm literally can’t penetrate the egg. We go pregnant on our second transfer and am currently 30 weeks.

If you have any questions i’d be happy to help xx

Thank you both, really helps to hear other people’s stories and how they got through it 💗

Hi there, in a very similar boat to you. Have been trying to conceive our second child for over a year. My partners sperm results came back as 2% morphology, not sure about progressive motility. Overall count was good. We were told ICSI would be required if and when we go down the IVF route. Same as you we had no issues conceiving first time around and started trying again when my daughter was 1.5 years. He is on Impryl now hoping that might help. How did you get on at the doc? Xx
