Post FET medication

Good evening

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant after a FET - which I am obviously completely thrilled about. I am, however, really struggling with the regime of drugs my clinic has me on. I fully understand progesterone support is necessary in the context of a frozen transfer but my regime is currently: 400mg of cyclogest 3x daily; crinone gel 2x daily; and lubion injection 2x daily (in addition to the oestrogen tables and blood thinner injections).

Would welcome any thoughts as to whether this seems extreme? - I feel absolutely wretched (like I am wading through mud and barely able to function) and while this is no doubt partly due to the HCG I can’t imagine the industrial quantities of progesterone are helping...

Sorry for the rambling post - just keen to understand how my regime compares with others who might have had FETs. For context: I don’t have a history of miscarriage.

Thank you all.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Following my FET I took 3x progesterone pessaries and 3x oestrogen tablets per day until 10 weeks so it does sound a lot to me. However I’m no expert, have you discussed it with your clinic? Have they tested your progesterone levels and deemed them to be low maybe? Protocols seem to vary a lot from clinic to clinic.

I sympathise with how you are feeling. I felt horrendous on mine, I’d come home from work and go to bed by 7pm as I couldn’t deal with the way I felt. However as soon as I stopped the fog instantly lifted and I felt great for the rest of my pregnancy.

Thanks - that’s really helpful. I think I will query it with the clinic, as it does seem a little extreme and I just don’t know how I am going to manage alongside my job, which can be very intense / involve late nights etc. If I have to then so be it - but worth a conversation I guess.

Thanks again.

Yes, ask your clinic. I imagine there must be a reason other than it being their standard procedure to justify so many drugs.

I took nothing for my FET (but obviously that was a natural FET) and I must say I also felt like crap! But like you say, taking so many drugs will presumably have side effects.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi there, @AlexDC I know this post is quite old. I hope your pregnancy has been successful!

I'm in the early stages of FET scheduled for January. I'm only taking the estrogen pills at the moment but already feel like garbage... headaches(!), fatigue, nausea. My doctor has outlined a similar protocol to what you described in your post. I don't know how I'm going to manage taking so many drugs and carry on doing my job. Any advice is appreciated.
