Metformin - IVF - Mild protocol

Hi, I'll be starting my third cycle with a private clinic next month (I've had two NHS cycles). I always respond really well to meds because I have polycystic ovaries (not syndrome). My new doctor has put me on metformin for a couple of months before starting stims. I think it quietens the follicles so that I don't over respond (I think). I'm going to be on a mild IVF protocol. Has anybody else been on Metformin and had a better IVF cycle? I was on short protocol with the NHS, I responded well both times but had to freeze all first time (had 3 embryos, 1 miscarriage, 1 chemical and 1 bfn), my second cycle I had a fresh transfer but had poor embryos. My NHS consultant said with polycystic ovaries the environment around the follicles can affect the quality of the eggs and he said my poor cycle was just one of those things and that I would probably have a completely different result next time.
My new consultant is concentrating on quality rather than quantity, which is why I'm doing mild IVF.
Please can you let me know how you got on with Metformin/Mild IVF.
Thank you 😊

Hi blueron. I didn’t have mild ivf but I had metformin for 2 months prior to egg collections and got getter embryos which were genetically normal. I don’t have pcos but I had some mild insulin resistance so suspect I may have a slither of pcos.
I would take it for a while prior to ur ivf so ur eggs are floating around in a low sugar environment and also try eat low gi if u have pco

Thank you so much for responding @Cream123

I've been taking them for two months; I'm not having egg collection until mid July.
That's great news about your embryos. Like you I don't have pcos and don't have any symptoms but ovaries are polycystic.
Thank you for the info 😀

I had 2

First cycle I got 4 blasts - but I had a chemical with the transferred one and the other 3 were abnormal when I defrosted and tested them
Next one 2 - got preg with twins but mc. Found out it was a chromosomal abnormality

Then I added lots of things one being metformin
I got 4 blasts - 3 were normal. 1 my son :)
(2 normals failed while trying after son as I discovered I have ashermans syndrome I’ve had operated on)

So for trying for no 2 ive done another fresh and got 2 pgs normals. Waiting to transfer one soon.

To add I was 28 when I had cycle 1
And recently 35 for cycle 4
