Pregnant with a uterine polyp

So I've recently been told I have PCOS and also have a uterine polyp that I will have to have surgery to remove it, however the hospital have been in touch with me and I won't be having my first appointment in regards to the PCOS or the polyp probably until September, due to Covid and there been a back log.

Me and my partner have been trying for a baby for around a year now and I'm pretty sure that after doing 2 tests they both have very very faint lines on, I'm not sure if this means I'm pregnant as the line was extremely faint, (was doubting if the line was even there) and I'm not really sure what I'm suppose to do and polyps are more likely to cause miscarriage?

Has anyone been through the same thing ?

Hi

We’re currently going through something similar! Do you mind me asking how you got on?

I’ve recently been diagnosed with a uterine polyp following a miscarriage back in February 2021. It was only identified on one of the scans I had at the early pregnancy assessment unit. I didn’t even know that I had it as it wasn’t causing me any issues such as bleeding in between sex etc.

They eventually referred me for surgery following a consultation with a consultant, however a few days later I found out that I’m pregnant again. I’m only about 4 weeks (from date of last period) but really scared that I’m just going to miscarry again due to the polyp!

I can’t really find a lot on google about polyps and successful pregnancies which is kind of stressful!

Hope everything goes well for you xx

@Miasmommyx Congratulations! I'm not pregnant, but i had 2 polyps found during a scan just before my frozen embryo transfer. This ended up being cancelled, as the consultant would not put the embryo back where 2 polyps were present, as he said it would affect implantation. Did they tell you the size of the polyp or mention if it was 'active' as in blood flowing to it?

I didn't have any symptoms either, so it was a real shock. I'm waiting to have a hysteroscopy.

In your case, i'd say it's a good sign that implantation seems to have taken place despite the polyp. It's really difficult to say what could happen now, as polyps are fairly common so i'm sure some women do have them with successful pregnancies, it's just that with me doing IVF, the consultant would not proceed until they're removed.

I don't think there's much you can do about it now unfortunately and i know it's going to add so much stress, but the fact you've got positive test is a good sign at least. Really hope it works out for you.

@Miasmommyx realise this is an old thread so a long shot that you'll see this but, I'm in the exact same boat - was your pregnancy successful?? I've been having investigations after two miscarriages and they've diagnosed with bad endometriosis and a polyp, and I've just found out I'm pregnant again and am bricking it because I wanted the polyp removed first....

Just wondering if anyone had any update? I’ve just had a second miscarriage in a row.

similar to @Tor88 i found out about the second pregnancy after the polyp was discovered, before I could get it removed 😒 hope your pregnancy is progressing well @Tor88 ?

the doctor said it was unlikely to have caused the miscarriage at that stage (13 weeks) and would usually affect pregnancy earlier on, but I can’t help but worry that it’s what is causing the miscarriages. It’s large - 2.5 cm last time it was seen. Back I go to gynae to try and get a hysteroscopy sorted before I ttc again.
