Urologist in London

Hi everyone,

My partner and I just received our file back after our failed ICSI cycle and it turns out there was a huge drop in embryo quality between Day 3 and 5. We were told it could be a make factor issue and are looking to see an andrologist privately while we wait for the NHS follow-up.

Any recommendations either than Jonathan Ramsay in London? We've read that he's the best but he does have quite a long waiting list, so I was wondering if there's anyone else who's good and who you might have had success with.

Thanks!

@thislittlebird ah sh%&! that really does suck, I'm sorry :(
It must be super frustrating but try to enjoy these couple of months when you can't try... I know it must feel like a waste of time but the break may work well before the intensity of IVF comes around?

@beachbum85 yeah, it’s very annoying!!!!!! But it is what it is now. I’m going to just use the next two months being pressure to try free and try to work out and eat well I think. Need to shift a few pounds to get back to my healthy bmi, restart my supplements etc.

How did you guys decide what to buy ivf wise? Did you get a package of x number of rounds or just go for one round? I need to decide whether to just give round a go or get two in an Access package.

beachbum85 · 26/07/2021 17:55

@thislittlebird that sounds like a plan! I started Couch to 5K as we were waiting for this cycle and I feel a lot better even if I doubt it will make any difference to the outcome...
We are really lucky to have 3 rounds funded by the NHS, so we didn't have to make that decision. A lot of people say that the first round is really just a trial run, but you do hear quite a few people getting pregnant first time round too!

@beachbum85 I’m very seasonal with my interest in exercise but since it’s warmer now I think I’m going to do something at 8 or before each morning. Might restart couch to 5k too, alternate with something else. I need to try because I’m sure my body doesn’t like me carrying extra weight, I’m short so it goes on quickly.

Yeah our nhs referral has been a cock up from beginning to end but it’s in the system now I just am not willing to wait anymore at 38. We only get one round nhs anyway, I think I’ll buy a two round package and we may lose a few k but 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. If it works it will be worth it.

@thislittlebird that's awesome! How long did he daily ejaculate? How old is he?

thislittlebird · 26/07/2021 23:23

@Delectable he’s 40 in a few months, I can’t quite remember how long he’s been doing it but a couple of months, maybe more. I’m sure JR told him to do it but he may have been doing it already.

thislittlebird · 26/07/2021 23:26

I checked because I couldn’t remember when I posted earlier and his morphology was 2.5% last time and then 8% this time! Big difference, can’t believe the leap.

beachbum85 · 27/07/2021 09:53

wow @thislittlebird that is a huge difference! well done to your partner :) I've added daily ejaculation to our IVF plan just in case Grin

I can totally understand not wanting to wait for the NHS. We had given ourselves a deadline too, and said we would go privately if we hadn't heard back... In any case, it will definitely be worth the cost if it works :)

I'm alternating running and yoga too... I'm in OK shape but I'm also short and can get pretty lazy... as soon as I slow down I can notice a difference. I know I'll be super bloated very soon, but at least if I can go into it feeling good, it's a better starting point I guess.... that's what I keep telling myself anyway hehe

@thislittlebird that's really good. I don't think my hubs cloud sustain daily ejac.

thislittlebird · 28/07/2021 13:12

@Delectable would he be willing to do it himself daily? Obviously I'm not participating daily, just wondered if he'd be ok with the lone effort?

@beachbum85 I say I'm going to do stuff and then I eat brownies instead Confused

Saw the new consultant today, he recommended ICSI + IMSI. I don't know if I want IMSI, but maybe I'll try it on round one. Do you guys know if there's a September/October IVF thread? I saw an August/September one.

Delectable · 28/07/2021 17:48

@thislittlebird he won't. He says it doesn't feel natural to him even on sample day we have to start of as if he'll be going in. Smile

thislittlebird · 28/07/2021 17:58

@Delectable oh no, that’s a lot more work
