IVF - reverse cleavage (grade A) embryo

Hi all

I had a 5 day blastocyst transfer yesterday - this is my second round (4th trf) of IVF, the first (1 fresh and 2 frozen) was unsuccessful, with one miscarriage.

The embryo transferred was a grade A - by far the best quality we have had, but the embryologist did say that I should be aware that during development the embryo did something ‘funny’. It went from 3 cells, to 4, back to 3 before reaching 4 again and developing well from there - this is apparently called ‘reverse cleavage’. Has anyone heard of / experienced this?

I’d be grateful for any information - unfortunately this is our only viable embryo from this cycle 😞

TIA x
