How would you interpret this embryo update?

Our clinic emailed us our day 2 update this morning:

1 x 4 having the quality 1 (1 is considered the best quality,3 the worst),
4 x 4 having the quality 2
2 were not fertilized and one is without the development.

It’s expressed in an odd way. Does it mean 1 of top quality, 4 of moderate quality and the other 3 are finished? We emailed them straight back but no has answered and l doubt they will until Monday now

I’d interpret like you, but agree that it’s a really peculiar way to express it. Can’t help more than that as I’ve always had a phone call rather than email. Sounds like a decent crop though, so fingers crossed for you!

@AutumnVibes great, so it’s not just us then! A phone call would have been helpful and we would have asked for clarity. We wondered if the x4 meant 4 cells?

That seems like a decent guess at this stage. I suppose whatever way, it looks like 5 good ones so far, so very hopeful you’ll get to a day 5 transfer and maybe even have one for the freezer. But who knows. My mum is always saying ‘there’s many a slip between cup and lip’ which irritates me but is very apt for the rollercoaster of ivf. Keep us updated, x

I’d interpret it as 1 of 4 cells that is top quality, 4 of 4 cells having second best quality where quality refers to level of fragmentation. So all the same cells but different levels of fragmentation.

Agreed it’s an odd way to express it but looks like 5 in the running still.

@AutumnVibes we shall see. In the past we’ve massively come up stuck after day 3. Let’s see what Monday brings -that’s day 4 and they don’t do updates on a Sunday
