Blood tests post IVF?

Hi ladies,

I am in my TWW from my first FET. I have been testing - and have gotten my BFP. The lines appear to be progressing, so being cautious at present(!) but my clinic doesn't test for progression with beta hCG. Is this a common thing!? Does everyone else's clinic/NHS Trust just conduct HPT on the OTD and then just get their clients/patients booked in for a viability scan around the 7/8 week mark?

Interested to know!

Thanks!

Congratulations!

My clinic never did any blood tests, just phoned in with results of hpt then scan.

@Youdontknowwhatyoureonabout thank you! Interesting, long gone are the days it seems of blood tests as a routine thing after a positive pregnancy test.

Hi @PT8998 - my clinic also doesn’t blood test at all, just waits for the scan. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞

I’m doing private and they offer hcg. But it’s not necessary if your line is visible. My last ivf cycle and the one I’m going through at the moment I’ve gotten v v faint BFPs at OTD. Like barely visible and had to get husband to check I wasn’t imagining it. My first ivf cycle did end as biochemical and this current positive doesn’t look much stronger and hcg is weaker :( so expecting it to end soon too. Sad it’s such mental torture!

However I’d only be concerned with hcg if your test lines look super faint or start disappearing. Sounds like yours is strong Smile

Best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy

@Shamoo thank you! Just curious to see that some do/don’t.

@LemonyChickpeas my clinic offer them, at a price. Not as standard to check the progression of the pregnancy. I’m sorry that you have vvvfl’s... I hope that the hCG levels rise beautifully for you soon 🤞🏼💕
Thank you ❤️

Hi
My clinic tests hCG levels only on day 14

Mine never offered a blood test (NHS). They just booked the scan when I called to tell them about my bfp. I never felt I needed the test tbh. I would only have obsessed over the actual numbers!

Congratulations and best wishes for a happy and healthy 9 months!
