No blasts

I’ve just come back from a fairly disastrous round of IVF abroad where none of my 4 embryos reached blastocyst.

I did a round of IVF at ABC in London 9 months ago and I got two blasts from 5 eggs. I was 37 at the time. I got pregnant with one of them but miscarried, and the testing afterwards showed the embryo was chromosomally normal. The other blast hasn’t been PGS tested but is excellent quality and is still on ice. I also got pregnant naturally in December and miscarried again, this time down to a chromosomal abnormality.

I thought that given I’ve had proven ability to make blasts fairly recently I would at least have one or two I could send off for PGS testing this round.

I’m not really sure what to do next. I was thinking of doing a round at ABC’s sister clinic Create as the protocol and lab conditions seemed to work for me last year. Or should I accept my eggs are no longer up to it and I’ve reached my fertility cliff now that I’m 38?

Has anyone had a disastrous cycle which they were able to improve on?

Hi @CP26 sorry to hear about your round, it must be very tough for you right now. I had a round at 40 where I got one blastocyst which tested as genetically abnormal, gave myself a rest, reduced my drugs a little, got myself in better shape (mentally and physically) and got 7 blastocysts in the next round. So it really can change round by round.

Wishing you the best of luck.

Hello - @CP26 so sorry to hear of your most recent cycle. Is there any reason you don't want to use the blast you have on ice?

@Shamoo thanks for replying and glad to hear you had a better result on a different cycle.

@MotherOfShihTzus I was hoping to bank some embryos and do PGS testing before attempting pregnancy again. My miscarriages have all been missed miscarriages which take months to resolve and recover from and that wastes valuable time at my age.

In my experience each month can yield totally different results even if the protocol is the same? I don't think you've necessarily reached your "fertility cliff" it was just not your month which I know is a shit thing to hear when you've spent thousands on it. I'd be inclined to do a multi cycle package if you want to Embryo bank? I did a 3 cycle package of natural modified IVF with Create for £13.5k including ICSI and all drugs
