FET & grades...

Hi ladies ☺️
I'm thinking of starting a FET cycle soon, we were very lucky to have a successful pregnancy with our seconded funded round of IVF and even more so to have 2 embies to freeze from that cycle.
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience on a FET cycle to guide me on what to expect along with grading. I know grades don't always matter, we have a 2BA & 3BA on ice but just wondering what this really means in terms of FET & thawing - do they have a chance?
I'm currently at that point of feeling very hopeful but at the same time not wanting to get my hopes too high just in case x

Hi

Grading is more for freezing purposes really as a clinic will say any blastocyst good enough to be frozen is good enough to become a successful pregnancy but I did find this when I was researching into it.....I'll post it separately

Also here are my transfer statistics

3BB - BFN
5BC - BFN
3BB - ectopic
5BB - BFN

5BA - BFP - one half of my twins
Day 6 4BB - BFP - other half of my twins

Found it!

FET & grades...

So your BAs assuming that they expand and start hatching so move to a 4BA and 5BA have around a 40% chance of success

My 3 month old twins boys were both BB, the other 7 embies were A’s and B’s and didn’t take. Wishing you best of luck!

Hi lovely, I just had transfer from an FET yesterday. Mine might be slightly different to what you would have but basically day 1 of AF I was on 3 tablets of progynova a day, 12 days after that I have a scan at clinic to check my ovaries were quiet and my lining was fine which it was so all good to go. Started cyclogest pessaries every 12 hours the day after that and transfer was booked for 20th - which is day 18 of my cycle. I had transfer yesterday and continuing with the progynova and cyclogest until otd which is 5th May

Hope this helps!
I actually asked my clinic not to tell me my embryo grades as I didn't want to panic/look into it too much. However the morning of it the doctor told me they were transferring a 4AA that they thawed so I have ended up knowing the grade of this one.

@ivfbeenbusy thanks so much for this, I'm trying not to get too hung up on grades 🙈 I was wondering more how they work (if you know?) like the 3BA for example, if they used that one does it thaw at that and transferred at that or does it continue/they thaw on day of transfer?

@BuffyFanForever twins! 😍💙💙 congrats! But yes I totally agree I somewhat need to put the grading thing to the back of my mind and focus on the fact we have 2 remaining 🤞🏼

@willithappen how very exciting! Thanks so much for the info, that all makes sense to me. I think when you've done ivf/fet you're on it so much and because it's been a while I've kind of forgotten all the days and scans etc. Head back in the game! 🥰 did you use norethisterone at all? My clinic has told me to come off my pill - I was on progesterone mini pill (back to back) after my baby was born to stop any possibility of endo regrowing. I have severe endo and sadly lost both my tubes but fingers crossed my previous pregnancy has somewhat halted it along with the pill 🤞🏼 I'm waiting for a bleed and then told to contact the clinic for lining scan, day 21 start norethisterone which I used last cycle to time period but they also spoke about putting me on some patches and HRT tablets along with pessaries and estrogen patches which I'm assuming will be the same as ivf when embryo is transferred? I'm not too sure of the names of the meds I'm taking as I haven't got that far yet. Did they give you a hcg shot this time around? I think the one I had last time was called gonasi (spelling?!) Wishing you so much luck with your FET cycle lovely x

@Bluemeadowbaby

They can go backwards once thawed and degenerate and you can end up with a lower grade - so it might not expand fully or it can fragment

Conversely you could thaw a 3 (expanded) and by the time it's thawed fully and ready to transfer it could be a 5 (hatching)

willithappen · 21/04/2021 20:17

@Bluemeadowbaby I had norethisterone when I was doing egg collection and to time me for then but then I had a freeze all after that due to high OHSS risk so had to wait for a withdrawal bleed then wait for another bleed and that was the one I started on. Only progynova and cyclogest for FET so no trigger shot or anything like that :)

With a heavy heart I write this post.
My first FET ended with a delayed miscarriage after babys heartbeat was confirmed at 6w6d and baby passed away 7w4d.

I'm currently on my second FET... heartbeat was confirmed at 6w3d but I had a sudden gush of blood and went for a private scan and sonographer didn't find a heartbeat but stated it as a 'inconclusive' and now having another scan with hospital next week. I'm so nervous, I'm on progesterone (pessary and injection) as well as estrogen tablets. I'm getting sore breasts, gagging when brushing teeth and frequently urinating.

I'm scared I'm having another delayed miscarriage and my anxiety is so high. I dont know what to do.

My embryo is a good grade too. 😭
