Hi ladies, am having a really hard time deciding what to do with our next cycle.
I’ve previously done 3 rounds of IVF:
Cycle 1 Fresh BFN
Cycle 2 Fresh BFN
Cycle 3 Freeze all
FET 1 BFN
FET 2 BFP (DD born 2020)
Our clinician cannot say with any certainty why our last transfer (embryos 6&7) worked. However, he recommended doing a freeze all for our next cycle just because it had worked last time.
We are planning to do up to 4 more cycles to try for a sibling. I’m turning 38 this year and have decided that I don’t want to do all cycles as freeze alls as it will take forever to get through and the waiting kills me!
What I need to decide is whether to do the first cycle as a fresh (all done and dusted in May) followed by a freeze all, or a freeze all followed by a fresh.
I’m thinking that if I do the fresh first, then I can potentially get two ECs in before I turn 38. However this goes against what our doctor suggested, but then he said he has no idea why the last one worked so I'm not sure why we would base a decision on this.
Be great to know what everyone would do under the circumstances. Mindful that IVF takes an age to get through and whether it is or isn’t going to work, I’d rather get through it in the least amount of time.
Also just so say, our fresh cycles never gave us anything to freeze (did a single and double transfer). The freeze all cycle gave us 4 x Day 3 embryos...
Thanks so much!
