Is this OHSS!?

Just asking for a bit of advice really. If anyone's had similar experience.
I had egg collection on Wednesday. Felt bit sore after but nothing unusual, not too bloated. Commenced the progesterone pessaries that night. Thursday, Friday- pretty much felt back to normal. Constipated and a bit gassy.
Anyway Saturday woke up bloated and uncomfortable - stomach tender to touch. I thought maybe I could be the progesterone ? Slept on it. Today I've woke up feeling the same. I can't say it's any worse although I am slightly bloated ? I'm meant to be having transfer tomorrow.
Just worried I've got ohss or could it just be the progesterone ?
I also seem to have a lot of gas.
No shortness of breath, Reduced urine output, nausea or diarrhoea.
Bit of context- I'm 25, PCOS . I did short protocol IVF which they retrieved 17 eggs.

I had the same amount of eggs collected as you and I was also extremely bloated. And felt like I had trapped wind. What helped me was painkillers and a hot water bottle. Make sure you're drinking lots of water and if doubt call your clinic ! Do they have an out of hours number ?

Thank you !! Will try the hot water bottle. I'm drinking loadsss. I'll try some pain killers too. There is an out of hours number but dont see what their going to to tbh as it's not severe as such. Thank you for your advice 💓💓

@swirls3468 my clinic said any sign of it and call the number! Even the smallest as they take it really seriously

Can't harm to give them a call and just double check. Best to keep your health safe first rather than worry about pestering them. It's what the line is there for

I had similar numbers to you but was put to a freeze all due to being a high OHSS risk as I had 40+ follicles. They gave me a different trigger so it helped and I got zero symptoms of OHSS at all. My friend who did a fresh transfer felt awful the next couple days after but luckily was feeling fine the day before transfer so they allowed the transfer to go ahead

I never had progesterone so I couldn't comment on the effects. I had OHSS though. Obviously it might be different for different people but I personally woke up from egg collection in tremendous pain! (27 retrieved) The pain subsided over several hours and left me with the symptoms you describe for a week or two. It could be normal to feel as you do after stims and egg collection. It's a lot for the body to go through. You should definitely call your clinic for advice though. I don't think there is much they can do but they might be able to tell you if it could be OHSS. They need to know if you have that. Good luck!

Hi,

Hope you are feeling ok. I would advice to call your clinic so they can check you over just in case. I had severe bloating after egg collection. Waited a few days but it got worse so went to the emergency unit to get it checked out and it was OHSS. They put me on anti-clotting injections as it can get worse quickly. They still did my transfer after some blood tests but I was glad they checked it all out.xxx

Thank you for your response. How did you feel? Did you have a fresh transfer ? I still feel terrible. It's just my stomach is so uncomfortable, like bloated but actually hurts it feels that full. The whole of my stomach feels sore. Thing is I felt absolutely fine Day of EC and few days after.

I felt bloated and it was painful (though not the agony I had immediately after egg collection). Mine wasn't severe at all. Some ladies vomit and some are hospitalised. I couldn't have a fresh transfer though. I don't think any clinic would do a fresh transfer with OHSS because pregnancy makes it worse, whereas it will go away on its own with a bit of a rest. I had to wait 2 months for things to settle down enough and have a FET (had a scan after 1 month but my ovaries were still enlarged). I was impatient at the time of course but I figured I had a better chance if I was in better health anyway (FET was successful so no regrets).

Your clinic might do a scan to check on your ovaries, or they might not be concerned but better to check.
