Drop off rate with ICSI

Can anyone shed some light on my situation ? I suppose I'm writing on here because I over think everything and this makes me feel better.
I had EC yesterday and got 17 eggs. They performed ICSI and I got the call today that 7 had fertilised. I know 7 is still a good chance but just seems a massive drop off and I can't understand why. I thought ICSi had a higher fertilisation rate.
They did say 2 eggs were immature so only 15 were injected with sperm. But that's still 8 that didn't fertilise. I have PCOS and partner has MFI. I am 25 partner 34.
Is it just bad luck? Egg/sperm issue?
I'm worried now about these 7 growing to blasts. I will have to wait till Monday to find out which will be transfer day (hopefully).

@thislittlebird thanks lovely, me too! 🙈 but it's always best to keep busy in the waiting game lol. Have you an idea when you may be starting? It's great to go nice and prepped to the consultation as they give their idea of what they want but I found it's always good to have your own idea too. You know your body better than anyone. I was always adamant with them I didn't want to hang around as I didn't want to keep having periods as it would slowly let my endo start to regrow and cysts did grow bigger during cycles so I think that's why they agreed too. My first successful ivf was august 2019 and that was with my boy who is now 1 x

@Bluemeadowbaby I’m totally detailing the original thread here but wanted to reply! so long story short the nhs appointment was terrible lol. Told us we’re unexplained and we definitely aren’t unexplained. Anyway, I’ve since complained to PALS about the bad appointment we had and am now diving into private. Saw a private urologist today and seeing the ivf consultant next week! In my head we’ll be starting in august but we might have to see how his results go.

2 icsi cycles
Only 5 eggs collected at each collection and only 1 fertilised both times (none to freeze)

Quality over quantity all day long for me
My baby girl is 2 in 8 weeks :) good luck all

@thislittlebird damn! This is shocking! I'm glad you've put a complaint through but also very pleased to hear you are getting on board and ivf is pending for you!! Very exciting! How are you feeling? X
