Hello,

I’ve had 3 miscarriages and 1 heathy 4 year old son. Me and my other half are now trying for another baby, after a year we still can’t get pregnant so the doctor recommended a blood test on my day 21 of my cycle and I just got the results, I was wondering if these are okay and if anyone wants to share theirs:
Progesterone was 96 Nmol/l
Testosterone was 0.4 Nmol/l
Thanks

@Hafla it looks to me that you’re producing a good amount of progesterone, the 21 day progesterone is used to see if you’ve ovulated, which you clearly have with that value. In a medicated cycle they sometimes do a progesterone level the day before the transfer which falls around the same time, my specialist says nobody knows what an adequate amount is, some people say over 20, others over 30, she uses over 50 as the level she likes to see. When I had my day 21 bloods mine was 41.

Hey @Gardenlady543 thank you for getting me to me that’s reassuring to know after the progesterone test what other steps does the doctor take? As the receptionist just told me the results and I don’t know where to go from there.

@Hafla The testosterone looks a bit low, I’m not sure of the significance of that. I’m not sure why your gp did just these two tests, sometimes women don’t produce enough progesterone to support a pregnancy and are given a prescription, but that doesn’t seem to be needed in your case. I’m not sure of the pathway the Gp follows but you’ll need to have investigations for recurrent miscarriages I should think, if I were you I’d book in with the gp to discuss the next steps.

@Gardenlady543 I’m not sure what the testosterone should be for women but as for the tests the doctor said that the blood test would look for a number of different things but those were the results the gave me also I was prescribed iron tablets. I will call my GP on Tuesday. Thank you for all your help.

@Hafla hmm maybe they have sent off more, but those are the only ones back so far, hopefully more results will be back by Tuesday and if they haven’t done any more then they can discuss the next step. Did they check your iron levels first before prescribing the iron tablets?

@Gardenlady543 hey yes they have, I’ve had iron deficiency since I was 11 I’m now 24 even in my pregnancy I had an iron infusion. It’s just the heart break every time I get a negative pregnancy test, I’m wish for everyone who wants children to be blessed by a child.

Hi, just saw your post. I've had my day 21 tests done but they didn't test for testosterone, I believe they do that when looking for pcos. As for iron, I am the same always had low iron and didn't think much of it but when the doc checked she said it was very low and put me on a huge 630mg a day! I had a ready up and iron deficiency can have a massive impact on getting pregnant and miscarriage rate! So that could definitely have been an issue for you, I managed to get pregnant twice and had healthy babies in my twenties but I think I was on a low dose iron for at least one of those and since ttc this time - 3 years we've had 2 mc and 2cp but I'm hoping now my levels are nearly normal that will make all the difference, cycle 2 since I started taking them. There's loads of extra supplements you can take to help as well
Good luck, hopefully with the iron improving that'll be it for you

Your progesterone is really high! I had mine done a couple of days ago and it was 22.7 ☹️

Thank you I know how hard it is to live with iron deficiency, always tired and instantly regretting getting up too fast. Thanks for the tip I will take extra supplements too, wishing some baby dust your way.

@ButterscotchBabe it’s still really good, from the research I did it shows that you’ve ovulated which is good. Good luck on your journey 🥰
