Selling/giving away unused IVF medication

This is a slightly odd one. My DH and I were about to start a round of IVF when I fell pregnant naturally. Seems like a classic story, we feel extremely lucky and grateful we didn't have to go through the trauma of a cycle. We know we do not want more children so we now have completely unused drugs sat in the fridge waiting not to be used.

I asked the clinic what we should do with them and the main secretary suggested we could sell them. They were ~£1200 or so in total.

Now, I think this is odd, going though IVF is an emotionally fraught and extraordinarily expensive but if you have decided to go down that route, would you ever trust the drugs bought from a total stranger - especially if the cycle then didn't work?!

Also I would have thought there was far more regulation involved regarding the sale of prescribed drugs?!

Has anyone heard of buying IVF drugs not directly through a clinic? I think it would be bonkers but DH thinks it would be fine to help another couple get the drugs more cheaply (and recoup some of the cost we paid).

They’re prescription medications, it‘s illegal to sell them. I’m not sure what to suggest to solve the problem.

As per previous poster it's illegal and unfortunately they have to be returned to a pharmacy for destroying

It's a nice thing to do but you just don't know the intentions of the people buying them - they could sell them on for profit and take advantage of someone else or even attempt to do a DIY cycle without clinic supervision

It's illegal to sell them - you need to take them to a pharmacy for disposal.
