My SIL has her appointment booked to start her IVF process via egg donor after close to 4 years of appointments, tests and the like and is with lockdown as well is having a very intense time of things at the moment.

I have started putting together a little 'pamper hamper' and I have ready included lots of the obvious items such as smellies, oils, face masks etc but I wanted to know if there is anything more specific that might be helpful whilst going through IVF that I wouldn't know to think of?

Is there anything you could please suggest that might be helpful? I want to send every positive vibe possible❤️

Depends how 'into it' your SIL is!!

If she's into the 'woo' like most people who go through ivf (like I totally was - I literally tried everything), maybe some castor oil for castor oil packs? Hot water bottle? Isotonic drinks for after transfer? Maybe if it's from a couple people, an acupuncture appointment?

A lot of women have a superstition about wearing fluffy socks after embryo transfer to keep their feet warm - an old theory that supposedly warm feet will mean warm uterine environment for the embryo. Probably nonsense, but would be a nice addition to the hamper!

Also maybe a nice reusable water bottle, as you have to drink 2-3 litres during stims/injections.

It might be worthwhile to check the ingredients in things you include - some people try to avoid particular chemicals/additives in case they impact upon the treatment. 'It starts with an egg' has some recommendations about this. Or, just ask your SIL what her favourite products are and go with those?

Oh what a nice idea @MrsSleepyHB several packs of fluffy warm socks sound good, see if you can get those ones lined with the fluffy stuff and knitted on the outside.

Otherwise fill it with her favorite treats, people are told to avoid alcohol and caffeine, so don’t put those in. If you want to keep it healthy then go with some nice fruit. There are some aromatherapy oils that people are told to avoid, so just try and go for natural product without chemicals or aromatherapy oils if you can.

Some things that help me relax- a rock salt lamp, these are cheap and give off a really nice light. If you wanted to go all out, then have a look for a faux fur heated throw, you can set the temperature on it so it doesn’t get too warm and it is by far the most relaxing thing I have, they cost about £100 though!

Thank you all so much! I haven't wanted to ask her directly re gifts as she would tell us to not worry about her. Thanks so much 🥰

Hope you don't mind me bumping this. Someone close to me is about to start ivf and I'd like to do something similar. How did the gift go down? Did anything get particularly good feedback? The person I have in mind is very NOT woo, although I am, so practical things like the water bottle probably more her cup of tea than crystals etc!
