Looking for ivf buddies

Hey,

I have just rejoined here after not being on here for years. I had an ivf group on here when going through my first round if IVF a few years ago.
Currently have a 4 year old from my first cycle.

I have just started progynova and I am doing a full round so should start injections next week.

I am looking for some new friends to go on this journey with. I haven't told any friends or family about this round as we had a frozen cycle in 2019 with our remaining frosties which sadly led to me losing our twins at 19 weeks pregnant.

I do not want to tell anyone this time around and I don't know why (something for fertility counselling I guess) but it is just something I want to not share.

If anyone wants to chat please let me know.

Hi @Veex21 I think my timings aren't too dissimilar to yours. Just started norethisterone yesterday and due to start injections on 2nd April. I have very low amh so am doing short flare protocol. This is my first round, we've been ttc for 2.5 years, conceived naturally in September last year but unfortunately miscarried at 6 weeks. I know my chances of this working are low but want to give it a good try before we move on to other options. Just trying to stay upbeat.

Thank you for replying.
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage.
What does short flare protocol involve and how are you feeling about starting?

So I take one prostap injection to downreg, have a one day break then start Ovaleap to stim the next day. I have the first scan day 6 but they expect it to take around 10 days. I feel OK, I just really want to try this and get some information about how I respond, if we get any good quality eggs etc. If it doesn't work at all then I least I know and can start to think of donors etc. I'm obviously really hopeful that it will but only 5 follicles at the moment so I'm keeping realistic too.

Hi @Kamiros and @Veex21 I'd love to join you although I am slightly ahead. I'm on Day 3 of stims today.

I have a 2 year old DD conceived on our second round of ICSI. Now we are trying for a sibling. I'm now 44 so our chances are stupidly low but we can't conceive naturally so this is our only way of having even a tiny chance.

Sorry to hear about your losses 💐. I miscarried at 9 weeks last Summer - a single pregnancy from our only 2 Frosties.

Best of luck to us all

Xxx

Hi @Janefx40 - how are you feeling with it all?

Janefx40 · 20/03/2021 19:10

Hi @Kamiros I'm ok thanks. I'm quite emotional and very tired. My clinic do daily blood tests and I'm not that nearby so it's tiring (and I'm only 3 days in!). We will be staying nearer from Monday.

Having said that I am much less anxious than I was 3 years ago.

I only have 4 follicles on view although she did say there were maybe 3 others that were harder to see. Not surprising at my age.

In a weird way it is easier knowing I am 44 and that our chances are so low. It means I'm not disappointed by bad news - anything is a bonus. Trying to stay calm and positive x

It does seem like a lot of information to get your head around but hopefully once you start it will just be one step at a time rather than dealing with everything at once.

@Kamiros how do you feel about starting soon?

Veex21 · 20/03/2021 19:11

Hi Jane, sorry to hear about your miscarriage also. So so tough on top of everything else. How are you feeling on the stims?

Daily is quite a lot, I don't have to go in until the 6th day which means taking a little less time off - I'm about an hour and 15 mins away so not that near either. OK, a little nervous about it all. Trying not to put too much on this first cycle but its hard. It was a shock last year to see my amh was so low. I'm 38 so older but I wasn't expecting it to be that bad.

Janefx40 · 20/03/2021 20:20

@Kamiros yes it can be a shock seeing test results. It's a tough balance because on the one hand it's good to be hopeful and it only takes one good egg but on the other hand it is useful to know the information and be prepared.

IVF is incredibly tough especially when you are trying for your first child. I am finding it easier this time around but I remember well how I felt before though.

I think all you can do is get through one day at a time and be nice to yourself.

Thanks @Veex21 it would be my due date next weekend. Odd to think how different life could be. Stims are ok so far but definitely more mood swings than when I took them before. What is next for you? Which day do you start injections?

Veex21 · 20/03/2021 20:44

@janefx40
How are you feeling about your due date? I didn't find my first ivf cycle difficult physically. I was just very negative and kept thinking the worst the whole way through. Which wasn't helpful. I should start injections on Friday. I have a scan on Thursday.

I have just started a new job so will be interesting to see how that plays out with time off.

OP, I'm not starting treatment again for a few months yet (have a dc from IVF) but I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss. These threads are filled with heart breaking tales. Losing twins at 19 weeks... just awful Flowers

Best of luck to you and everyone else here on your new cycles! Smile

Veex21 · 20/03/2021 21:06

@yokey thank you for your message and well wishes x
