My clinic have given me a prescription so we can source our own price as they said it would be much cheaper

Any ideas which ones ? I've called boots and paydens but boots said they need the prescription and paydens gave me the price over the phone
Asda phone line isn't open so before I go there just wondered if anyone can recommend?

Thanks x

@strawberrysummer19 Asda is always likely to be the cheapest, you need to make sure they know it’s for fertility treatment and they’ll sell them to you at cost price.

Make sure you have needles, syringes and a sharps bin (if required). I think the stims I was on came with needles and syringes but with my lubion (a form of progesterone), all I get is the vials in the box. I get needles, syringes, a sharp bin, swabs and alcohol wipes from Medisave.

Well done for sourcing a private prescription and getting the meds from Asda, it works out so much cheaper!

@strawberrysummer19 can I ask, did Asda add VAT to the cost? I got some ivf drugs from there a few months ago and only realised later that the actual cost was much higher than quoted because they had added 20%. I blame my hormone addled brain for not realising at the time 😂. I then ended up getting the rest from the clinic which was easier given covid isolating during the cycle etc anyway. But I'm increasingly sure the Asda vat shouldn't have been added. Would be interested to know for future cycles we might do as it would be a big money saver!

@sazzt there's no vat so definitely that's an error! If you have a receipt can you complain and maybe head office will refund you that?

I must admit after 9 pharmacy visits two being Asda's both giving a quote of almost £300 difference didn't have that much confidence !! But went with Asda for 2 out the 4, one with one clinic and the other with my clinic as it worked out the best price.

Anything for a saving when we are spending thousands
Def worth shopping around xx

We are going to look at Asda too for our IVF drugs. can someone let me know the costs. I can only find £1300 from 2017 on the forms. Thanks Flowers

Gardenlady543 · 19/07/2021 20:57

@Alirose84 you'll need to know what medications you're being prescribed. If you call your local Asda pharmacy with the list they will be able to give you the price. Make sure you tell them it's for fertility treatment so they give you the cost price.

You might need needles and syringes too you'll need to check if the drugs you're getting come with them or not. If not I source mine from Medisave.

Alirose84 · 20/07/2021 18:27

Thanks @Gardenlady543 I have my list

Stimulatory Drugs 13 days of 450 iu’s ( Ovaleap )

Drugs required for treatment HCG ( Ovitrelle or Pregnyl )
Drugs required for treatment Support Drugs after Embryo Transfer ( Cyclogest x40)
Drugs required for treatment Support Drugs after Embryo Transfer (Prontogest x21 days)

Asdas prices for the stimulation drugs were 20 time's as expensive as our clinic. £121 compared to £2000 I asked them to double check it

Gardenlady543 · 20/07/2021 18:47

@Alirose84 medications for a fresh cycle are usually around £2000 with the majority of the cost being the stims. I would double check with your clinic about their price because it doesn't seem right.
